Tays joined GolfChannel.com as assistant managing editor in 2011. He has more than 40 years experience in journalism, beginning with a stint as a police reporter in suburban Boston while still a freshman at Northeastern University. His professional travels have included stops at the (Fort Lauderdale) Sun-Sentinel, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Golf World magazine (where he was Managing Editor), Palm Beach Post and FoxSports.com.

Though primarily an editor, he is also a decorated writer, his work having been recognized by the Golf Writers Association of America, Associated Press Sports Editors, Florida Sports Writers, Cox Newspapers and PGA of America, South Florida Section.

He is the creator of the GC.com series, "The Challenged Tour," which seeks to spotlight the many inspirational tales of fellow disabled golfers. He lists as his favorite golf moment "my next (good) tee shot."
