Longtime Friend and Caddy during Q-School
Derek Goldstein grew up in the San Fernando Valley. His stepfather had a membership to Brentwood Country Club, so Derek discovered at a relatively young age that he had talents on the golf course. In 1980, at the age 15, he won the Club Championship at Brentwood Country Club. He went on to win that title for the next five years.
In 1982, Derek won the America's Cup Juniors Tournament in both the individual and team competitions. That same year, he placed second in the Junior World Tournament at Torrey Pines. Between the ages of fifteen and seventeen, Derek won 15 Junior Golf Tournaments.
He received a full athletic scholarship to San Diego State University. It was during this time that Derek decided to move away from competition and into the business side of the game. He left school and started working at Lamode, a golf apparel company doing inside sales. Derek has two children and now works as a businessman and part-time caddy.
