John Lepak is the most musically talented competitor on Big Break.  A musician, artist and a professional golfer, he credits his father for instilling all of these talents in him at a young age.

John’s father introduced him to golf by taking him out on the golf course every weekend growing up.  His father was not only his teacher, but also his mentor, caddy, and travel companion when he turned professional.

“My father had such a huge influence on my life, both on and off the golf course,” said John.  “He taught me not only just how to swing a golf club, but also how to be a gentleman.”

John’s father, a musician in his own right, introduced his son to music at an early age.

“My father taught me how to play the guitar,” said John.  “He and I had so many jam sessions together growing up and on the road at various tournaments.  If I had a bad round, we would just grab the guitar and start playing.  It was a special bond that I will always cherish.”

John’s father passed away in 2004.  There is not a day that goes by that he still doesn’t think about him.

“He was, and always will be, my inspiration,” said John.  “He was my drive and passion to play professional golf.  Every tournament that I play in, I know he is right there with me.”

That drive and passion continues to fuel John.  For the past seven years, he has competed on the Golden State Tour and the Gateway Tour.  He also maintains a family-built practice green and chipping area in his backyard. 

He believes his goal of competing on the PGA Tour is within reach.  With his father’s spirit by his side, he is confident Big Break Indian Wells will help him achieve that goal.
