As Senior Vice President of programming, Phil Piazza is responsible for programming and scheduling strategies designed to maximize the network’s viewership, including creating and acquiring new programming, and strategic partnership initiatives.
Prior to joining Golf Channel, Piazza served in several programming roles with Shaw Media in Toronto, Ontario, ultimately as Vice President, Global TV Programming, Marketing & Digital – Content Acquisitions. In that role, he oversaw all programming and scheduling, and was responsible for creating and implementing the overall strategic acquisition plan for Shaw’s free TV network (Global) and its 19 cable channels, in addition to negotiating programming agreements with U.S. and international content suppliers.
Piazza previously held the role of Vice President, Programming & Business Development for Children’s Television at Corus Entertainment in Toronto, where he helped guide multiple networks to top-rated marks in their respective demographics and focused primarily on acquisitions, scheduling, original production and non-linear initiatives. Prior to that role, he worked for TSN (The Sports Network) in Canada, holding several senior positions ranging from programming to acquisitions, scheduling, sales, affiliate marketing, development, production and the launch of TSN’s digital networks.
He earned a degree in Business from Centennial College, and a post-graduate degree in Sports and Event Marketing from George Brown College.
Piazza and his wife Jennifer (Bowen) have two girls, Emma and Grace.
