Hello, my name is Robbie Biershenk, better known as “Shank.”  Many of you saw me on Golf Channel last year when I competed on Big Break Indian Wells.  It was a bitter-sweet ending for me as I was eliminated after week six.  I regret that I was unable to take it all the way, but in the process, I gained a million friends.  What an honor to receive this type of support.  I am truly grateful to all of the “Shank” fans who were behind me all the way.  It was an awesome experience and a tremendous eye opener.

This opportunity means the world to me.  I can’t wait to be re-acquainted with all of my Shankster fans who have been so supportive of me in my journey to the PGA TOUR.  The new friends and well wishers I have gained because of the Golf Channel is the real reason why I am continuing to pursue my life’s goal of becoming a PGA TOUR professional.

I have realized that my dream to become a PGA TOUR professional is an obtainable one.  However, timing, chance and plain old luck has not been a friend to me.  Simple is the way I like things.  I’m just a simple man, but the opportunities to advance my dream seem to arrive when I am not ready.  The bell, however, has just rung.

I will freely admit I have made many dream-crushing mistakes.  Many of these mistakes were all mine, but some were caused by matters out of my control.  Unfortunately, these have led me to place my dream to play golf at the highest level one life’s shelf of, “I’ll get to it later.”

In my attempts to keep my dream alive, I must daily choose to survive.  My daily survival is in the daily maintenance of my driving range.  While my driving range pays the bills, it requires every waking moment of my time and energy.  My golf abilities are well above average, but like anything else – no practice, no perfection.

Any talent, given the right tools, such as time and a proper support system, will reach its full potential.  The name “Shank” is an undesirable term in the world of golf.  I refuse to continue to miss-hit my dream of becoming a PGA TOUR professional.  My older brother, Tommy, achieved his dream by making it on the PGA TOUR.  Now it is time for younger bro to fulfill his.

Life is precious, we are not promised tomorrow.  I must work harder, go further, reach higher.  Hopefully I can do all this and still take time to make a difference in someone else's life.  After all, that is what really matters.

As I continue my journey, I am always empowered by those that support me and my dream.  I never imagined that life would afford me so many friends pushing me and pulling me along the way.  Surely, if not for you, my dream would have been quenched a long time ago.  I will not forget you.

My life is changing as I speak, and I am always in awe of what God is doing for me and my family, remembering that all good things come down from the Father of Lights, the God of all creation.

Thanks to everyone along the way.  You have all made a difference.  See you when I get there.
