At a Glance: Jada and Amelia both come from golf families and started playing at a young age – Jada’s older brother was a high school and collegiate All-American and Amelia’s older sister played collegiate golf.  The two have known each other since childhood, but both admit they  haven’t always been the best of friends.

In high school, Amelia dated Jada’s older brother, a time in their lives they joke about now where they did not talk to each other.  Their competitive rivalry also grew on the golf course, as they battled for the top spot on their high school team during the season as well as in local and national junior tournaments.  After Amelia’s relationship fizzled out, the two – albeit slowly – became close friends.  Their careers on the golf course also blossomed.

Growing up, Jada’s first love was competitive ice skating.  Wanting to follow in her brother’s footsteps in achieving success in the game, Jada transitioned to golf in high school.  She admits that playing in the shadow of her brother fueled her competitiveness and drive to pursue a dream of playing on the LPGA Tour.

A high school All-American, Jada played college golf at University of California-Irvine, while Amelia followed in her sister’s footsteps at and played collegiately at the University of California-Riverside.  Both turned professional following graduation and for the past two years, have been travel buddies on the Symetra Tour and mini-tour circuits.

Over the winter, Amelia and Jada each hung up their golf clubs – for different reasons.  Funds became a challenge, and the results weren’t what both were expecting.  Amelia decided to transition to the corporate world in early 2015.  Jada’s fire to achieve her dream of competing on the LPGA Tour still burns, and continues to play full-time on the Symetra Tour and mini tours in 2015.

“Jada has the talent to play with the best players on the LPGA Tour, but like everyone else, money always is tight,” said Amelia. “She and I have been training for months. I’m playing for her, and we’re going to push each other to the best of our abilities.”
