SYDNEY – Longtime Australian golf writer Tom Ramsey has died at 75.
He fought cancer for a decade and died Wednesday.
News Limited chairman John Hartigan called Ramsey a “stubborn Northern Irishman” who covered 141 majors. Hartigan said Ramsey was “afraid of no one and regularly dished it out to the likes of Greg Norman despite his iconic standing in this country.”
Sydney’s Daily Telegraph said Friday that Ramsey was cremated and his ashes will be spread at his favorite course, Royal County Down in Northern Ireland.
Ramsey is survived by his wife, Carmel, and son Andrew.
