This week marks the fourth event of the 2014-15 PGA Tour season, as players head to Malaysia for the CIMB Classic. Each week, a panel of experts will offer up their picks from four groups of players, based on Golf Channel's fantasy game, Fantasy Challenge. We will also keep track of their scores and standings. The panel includes: senior writers Rex Hoggard, Randall Mell and Jason Sobel; contributors John Hawkins and John Antonini; editorial director Jay Coffin; 'Morning Drive' host Gary Williams; host Charlie Rymer and defending fantasy champion Ryan Lavner.
Group 1: Sergio Garcia: Although the Spaniard has been off since the Tour Championship, three of his last five starts were top-10 finishes and he tied for 11th last year in Malaysia.
Group 2: Steven Bowditch: The Australian opened his season on the PGA Tour with a runner-up showing at the Frys.com Open and played last week’s Perth International (T-40), which will give him an advantage over those dealing with jetlag.
Group 3: Brendon de Jonge: His status as the best Tour player without a title grew last Sunday at the McGladrey Classic, where he finished runner-up to Robert Streb, but his recent play suggests he will have another chance to shed that title soon.
Group 4: Robert Allenby: He is off to a solid start this season on Tour (he finished T-41 last week at Sea Island and T-8 at the Frys.com Open) and he has top-15 finishes in his two starts at the CIMB Classic.
Group 1: Sergio Garcia: He was better than most people realized in 2013-14, and that better might get even better in 2014-15.
Group 2: Paul Casey: Career resurgence now intact, expect a swift rise up the world ranking in coming months.
Group 3: Retief Goosen: Now fully healthy for the first time in years, don’t be surprised to see his name on some more leaderboards.
Group 4: Greg Chalmers: Australian lefthander traditionally plays some of his best golf during the Aussie summer months.
