This week the LPGA Tour heads to France for the Evian Championship, the fifth and final major of the year. Each week, a panel of experts will offer up their picks from four groups of players, based on Golf Channel's fantasy game, Fantasy Challenge. We will also keep track of their scores and standings. The panel includes: senior writers Rex Hoggard and Randall Mell; editorial director Jay Coffin; associate editor Will Gray; 'Morning Drive' host Gary Williams; host Charlie Rymer and defending fantasy champion Ryan Lavner.
Group 1: Lydia Ko: Buoyed by her recent win in Canada and returning to a course where she nearly won in 2013, Ko will finally add her name to the list of LPGA major champions.
Group 2: Brooke Henderson: The teen sensation has defied all expectations this year and has already earned her full-time LPGA status. With a pair of top-five finishes in majors earlier this summer, she does not shy away from the big stages.
Group 3: Yani Tseng: After struggling through a significant slump, the former world No. 1 appears to be turning a corner. Tseng has a pair of top-15 finishes over her last four starts and nearly won two weeks ago in Alabama.
Group 4: Jaye Marie Green: Green has found her footing during her sophomore season on the LPGA, and enters on the heels of three straight top-15 finishes.
Group 1: Inbee Park: Park has won six of the last 14 women’s majors. She’s won at Evian before. Enough said.
Group 2: Karrie Webb: Webb won Evian in ’06 and nearly won it again last year. She remains one of the game’s top ball strikers.
Group 3: Yani Tseng: Tseng’s struggles are well documented, but she is fighting back. She looked good and nearly won her last start in Alabama.
Group 4: Jaye Marie Green: Green is on a really nice summer run, T-14 or better in four of her last five starts.
Group 1: Lydia Ko: She won her last start (Canadian Pacific Women’s Open) and finished third at the Women’s British Open in July.
Group 2: Shanshan Feng: Feng finished tied for eighth last year at the Evian Championship and has two top-10 finishes in her last two starts.
Group 3: Austin Ernst: Although she’s never made the cut at the Evian she finished runner-up in her last start (Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic).
Group 4: Jaye Marie Green: Despite tough start to the season, she’s finished inside the top 15 in four of her last five starts.
