Jim Furyk made one eagle and 10 birdies to shoot a 12-under 58 Sunday at TPC River Highlands in the fourth round of the Travelers Championship. Statistically, here's how he did it:
Driving distance (all drives): 275.2 yards
Fairways hit: 13 of 14 (he missed the fairway on No. 7)
Greens in regulation: 18 (in the first three rounds, only one player - J.J. Henry - hit all 18
Distance of putts made: 117 feet, 11 inches
Average proximity to hole: 20 feet, 4 inches
Furyk was 1 over through three rounds (73-66-72). He finished at 11-under 269.
Needless to say, the 58 is a course and tournament record. The previous low rounds at the Travelers Championship were: 60, Patrick Cantlay, 2011, second round, TPC River Highlands; 60, Tommy Bolt, 1954, second round, Wethersfield CC.
Furyk becomes the first player to break 60 twice on the PGA Tour: He shot 59 in the second round of the 2013 BMW Championship at Conway Farms.
