DORAL, Fla. – It was one of the more interesting 3-under 69s on Friday at the WGC-Cadillac Championship, but what else would one expect from Bubba Watson.
Watson began his day with a bogey at the par-5 first and was even par when he arrived at the par-5 eighth hole. From 224 yards he hit his second shot to 2 feet for an eagle. Two holes later, he holed a bunker shot for his second eagle of the day.
That was it, one bogey, two eagles, 15 pars.
But given Watson’s hate/hate relationship with the Blue Monster it’s not overly surprising he would have such an eclectic card.
“I can't stand the golf course. It's way too tough for me,” said Watson, who is tied for fourth place at 4 under, five shots behind frontrunner J.B. Holmes. “Donald Trump, he put together a tough one for me and very difficult. Seemed like I was in sand all day, like I was back in Pensacola Beach [Fla.].”
