ST. LEON-ROT, Germany – After a 2-2 tie in the morning foursomes, the afternoon fourball pairings have been announced at the Solheim Cup. Morgan Pressel and Paula Creamer won the first point in the morning and are going out together again first. They will face Swedes Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Hedwall.
U.S. rookie Alison Lee has battled food poisoning over the past couple days here at St. Leon-Rot Golf Club and there was a question whether she’d feel well enough to play at all on Day 1. But she’ll be paired with Angela Stanford in the second fourball match. They’ll face Charley Hull and Gwladys Nocera.
“Get her out here and get her feet wet,” Inkster said of Lee.
All 12 players from both sides will play at least one match on the first day.
Americans Lee, Stanford, Gerina Piller and Brittany Lang all sat in the morning and are playing in the afternoon. Michelle Wie, Brittany Lincicome, Stacy Lewis and Lizette Salas are sitting in the afternoon.
For Europe, Hedwall, Nocera, Carlotta Ciganda and Caroline Masson sat in the morning. They’ll all play in the afternoon while Suzann Pettersen, Karine Icher, Azahara Munoz and Catriona Matthew sit out.
