Mother Nature finally cooperated with dry weather long enough for the AT&T Byron Nelson to get back on schedule. When the third round was completed late Saturday, Steven Bowditch held a two-shot lead over five players, with a total of 13 players within four shots of the lead. Here's how things stand going into the final round at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas in the Dallas suburb of Irving, Texas.
Leaderboard: Steven Bowditch (-13), Dustin Johnson (-11), Scott Pinkney (-11), Jon Curran (-11), Jonathan Randolph (-11), Jimmy Walker (-11), Charley Hoffman (-10), Joe Affrunti (-10), Ryan Palmer (-10)
What it means: Bowditch is a native Australian who has lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for 10 years, so he would be a popular winner. Other Texans in the mix are Walker (born in Oklahoma but lives in San Antonio) and Palmer (born in Amarillo). The Texan considered most likely to win here, Dallas-born Jordan Spieth, is six shots back at 7 under after managing only a 1-under performance on Saturday.
Round of the day: DJ made a 24-place leap with a bogey-free, seven-birdie 62. And he accomplished that without birdieing the shortest hole on the course, the roughly 100-yard 14th that had been converted from a par 4 because of wet conditions.
Best of the rest: Zimbabwean Brendon de Jonge might have matched DJ's 62 had he not bogeyed the 18th hole. Instead, he settled for a 63 and is four shots off the lead.
Biggest disappointment: Take your pick: Spieth, who was just three shots off the lead at the beginning of the third round, certainly hoped for better than 1 under. Randolph, seeking his first Tour win, was playing Bowditch even until double-bogeying the last. Or Hunter Mahan, two shots off the pace after 36 holes, tumbled to a tie for 29th after a 1-over 70.
Quote of the day: "I just didn't have it." - Spieth
Main storyline heading into Sunday: Can Bowditch hold off Johnson, who won the WGC-Cadillac Championship earlier this year at Doral and is looking to pick up his second win of 2015? Or will Walker, currently No. 2 in the FedEx Cup standings, carry the flag for the Texans?
