WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. – Keegan Bradley and Webb Simpson are going to have an excellent opportunity to impress their potential Ryder Cup captain at this week’s Greenbrier Classic.
Bradley (18th on the current U.S. points list) and Simpson (17th) will be among those vying for one of Tom Watson’s three captain’s picks should they not rank inside the top nine by the end of next month’s PGA Championship. They will tee it up alongside the captain for the opening two rounds.
That trio will start at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday.
If Watson wants to get a look at his top-ranked player, he’ll only need to look in the group ahead.
Masters champion Bubba Watson, who owns a large lead over Jimmy Walker in the standings, will begin his tournament at 12:50 p.m. with fellow 2014 winners Brendon Todd and J.B. Holmes.
Walker finds himself on the other side of the draw, playing with a pair of past Greenbrier champions in Scott Stallings (2011) and Jonas Blixt (2013), beginning at 8 a.m. on Thursday off the 10th tee.
Three other U.S. Ryder Cup hopefuls will play in the group ahead: Patrick Reed, Steve Stricker and Bill Haas.
