Alison Lee made the most of her U.S. Women’s Open sectional qualifying chance Tuesday.
Lee shot 71-73 for a 2-over 144 total at Goose Creek Golf Club in Mira Loma, Calif., to earn a spot in the U.S. Women’s Open. Lee claimed one of two spots available in the sectional qualifier, winning co-medalist honors with amateur Lilia Khatu Vu.
Lee was originally scheduled to play a sectional qualifier in Virginia on Monday, but she missed her tee time after the suspended final round of the LPGA’s Kingsmill Championship was pushed to a Monday morning finish. The USGA granted Lee the option of playing another sectional qualifier. Lee finished third at Kingsmill, her best LPGA finish in her rookie season.
The U.S. Women’s Open will be played July 9-12 at Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pa.
