The offseason has come and gone, and a new PGA Tour season is about to begin. Here are four featured groups that you should keep an eye on this week at the Frys.com Open in Napa, Calif., where Rory McIlroy headlines the field (all times ET):
Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Brandt Snedeker: 10:50 a.m. Thursday, 3:40 p.m. Friday
All three players are making their first start since the Tour Championship, with McIlroy and Rose teeing it up to satisfy an obligation tied to their participation in a non-sanctioned event in 2012. At No. 3, McIlroy is the highest-ranked player in the field while Rose is next at No. 7. Snedeker rounds out the trio and is in search of his first top-10 finish since the Travelers Championship in June.
Hunter Mahan, Webb Simpson, Geoff Ogilvy: 11 a.m. Thursday, 3:50 p.m. Friday
Mahan returns to Silverado after finishing T-3 in his debut last year. He last teed it up on the PGA Tour at the BMW Championship, as did Simpson who won his U.S. Open title a few miles down the road at the Olympic Club. They'll be joined by Ogilvy, who failed to make the postseason but remains exempt thanks to his win at the 2014 Barracuda Championship.
Steven Bowditch, Hideki Matsuyama, Charl Schwartzel: 3:40 p.m. Thursday, 10:50 a.m. Friday
This group includes three players still dealing with jetlag, having all represented the International Team last week at the Presidents Cup. Bowditch and Matsuyama both contended here last year, finishing second and T-3, respectively, while Schwartzel is among the group of players who were essentially obligated to tee it up this year at Silverado.
James Hahn, Brooks Koepka, Ryan Moore: 3:50 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. Friday
This group brings together three players who all notched early-season victories in 2014-15. Koepka is the highest-ranked at No. 12, having just completed a sophomore season that nearly netted a Presidents Cup berth. Hahn only has one top-10 finish since his breakthrough win at Riviera, while Moore has won in October each of the past two years - although both came in Malaysia.
