The USGA announced Tuesday that the U.S. Amateur will be held at Pinehurst No. 2 in 2019, followed by at trip to Bandon Dunes in Oregon in 2020.
Pinehurst hosted both the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women's Open last summer and has been the site of the U.S. Amateur twice before, most recently in 2008 when Danny Lee won the title. Bandon Dunes has never before hosted the event, although the coastal resort is the site this week of the inaugural U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball. The U.S. Amateur has not been contested in Oregon since 1996, when Tiger Woods won a third consecutive Havemeyer Trophy at Pumpkin Ridge.
The announcements add to an already enticing list of future venues for the event. After this year's tournament at Olympia Fields outside Chicago, site of the 2003 U.S. Open, the U.S. Amateur will head to Oakland Hills (2016), Riviera (2017) and Pebble Beach (2018).
The dates of the events will be Aug. 12-18, 2019 at Pinehurst and Aug. 10-16, 2020 at Bandon Dunes.
