It looks like Rory McIlroy will have to pay - in some form or another - for his latest club toss.
McIlroy grabbed headlines when he chucked his 3-iron into a lake during the WGC-Cadillac Championship in March, and the Ulsterman again sent his club flying last week en route to a missed cut at the BMW PGA Championship:
While the PGA Tour and European Tour are usually quiet on the details of player fines, Golfblot.com reports that a European Tour official confirmed that McIlroy will be facing sanctions for his actions at Wentworth.
"Rory will be disciplined under the players Code of Conduct for the club throw," the official said via e-mail.
What that discipline entails remains to be seen, but it appears likely that the world No. 1 will soon be a little lighter in the wallet - and will probably hold onto his clubs a little tighter this week at the Irish Open.
