OCALA, Fla. – Angela Stanford made the most of Friday morning’s resumption of the suspended second round at the Coates Golf Championship.
Stanford birdied two of the five holes she played upon returning in the morning to finish off a 7-under-par 65, moving her into the final pairing with the lead group for the third round.
At 8-under overall, Stanford moved four shots behind the leader, Ha Na Jang, and was tied for second with Stacy Lewis.
Fifty players were still on the course when the second round was suspended because of darkness and had to return in the morning to finish their rounds. The cut was ultimately made at 4 over, with 77 players making it. Cheyenne Woods made the cut on the number by making birdie at the final hole of her second round. Rolex world No. 5 Suzann Pettersen (74-75) and Morgan Pressel (75-75) were among those who didn’t make the cut.
The third round began with players sent out in threesomes off the first and 10th tees. Jang, Lewis and Stanford were the final threesome off the first tee.
