Aussie Scott Gardiner trails Jordan Spieth by one shot after Round 1 at the Australian Open, where his surprisingly colorful scorecard eventually added up to an opening 68.
Gardiner made just one birdie and eight pars on the front before marking down three birdies, a bogey, a double and an ace on the back. His hole-in-one at 11th proved the easiest solution to his double bogey at the 10th.
After the ball bounced over the green and onto the fringe, it had a little backtracking to do:
The ball found its way into the cup and Gardiner found his way into a new Lexus. He sits in a two-way tie for second with fellow Aussie Aron Price, one shot ahead of defending champion Rory McIlroy.
