Tiger Woods will finally open his first course on Dec. 16, he announced Tuesday via Twitter.
The El Cardonal course at Diamante in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico will be Woods’ first design opening after failed attempts in Dubai, North Carolina and Mexico.
“I don’t want people to lose a dozen balls when they play our course,” Woods told Golf.com. “Pinehurst is a great example of a course that’s tough for us, but playable for everybody else. It gets players thinking, with options around the greens. We want lots of variety. St. Andrews is the world’s greatest course. There are so many different ways to play it, to get the ball on the green.”
Woods is also designing Bluejack National near Houston, Texas. His first U.S. course design is expected to open in October 2015. The opening date for El Cardonal had been in flux after suffering damage from Hurricane Odile last month.
