With this being the second to last full-field event before the season-ending Nationwide Tour Championship, it's crunch time for a handful of players desperately in search of their PGA Tour cards.
With the top-21 on the money list at season's end earning their membership onto the Big Show for 2006, the battle is nearing the end for those 21 spots with Joe Daley currently holding down the final slot.
Daley, who came into last week's event in the 19th position, dropped two spots on after missing the cut in Arizona. Daley will hope for a good showing in Texas to try to keep the small buffer between him and Greg Kraft, who is 22st on the list.
Kraft, who was in the 21th position, dropped to the unlucky 22rd spot on the money list after a tie for 19th at the Gila River Golf Classic. Kraft, a former winner on the PGA Tour and already a winner on the Nationwide Tour this year, is just $3,000 behind Daley on the money list.
The other war being waged is the fight for the 60th spot on the list, as those in the top-60 receive invites to the Tour Championship.
Twenty players are within $25,000 of Brian Henninger, who currently sits in the 60th spot on the money list. Conversely, another 12 players are within just $15,000 of falling outside the top-60.
Last year Charley Hoffman birdied the third playoff hole to defeat Craig Lile and Jeff Gove to capture his first Nationwide Tour event. Hoffman is back for a rare title defense on tour and will seek to become the only player in Nationwide Tour history to defend his title successfully.
Next week the tour tees it up in Miami, Fla., for the Miccosukee Championship, before heading to Prattville, Ala., for the Tour Championship.
