Regardless of name, the defending champion is still the same.
Bruce Lietzke will put his title on the line at the Bosque Real Country Club in Col. Lomas Altas, Mexico. He won last years event at the Club de Golf Chapultepec in Naucalpan.
This is the fourth playing of this event, and its third different venue. The first two times it was contested at La Vista Country Club in Puebla.
Hubert Green won the inaugural tournament in 2001, while Mike McCullough prevailed the following year.
This is the fifth event on the 2003 Champions Tour schedule. They took last week off, which they will do almost every time the PGA Tour is playing a major or World Golf Championship event.
The only exception is when the primary circuit plays the WGC-NEC Invitational, August 21-24. The elder set is already taking off the week before due to the PGA Championship, and doesn't want to make the likes of Dana Quigley sit out two in a row.
Quigley, who has played in a tour record 205 consecutive events, is currently leading the money list, thanks in large part to his victory in the season-opening MasterCard Championship.
