You've heard the phrase, 'Put your back into it!'
When it comes to the golf swing, you should be doing the exact opposite. An athletic address position and the ability to maintain spine angle throughout the swing require you to engage your abs and glutes – yes, you need to use your gut and your butt.
To strengthen these rhyming anatomical areas, Kai Fusser, Director of Fitness at the Annika Academy, demonstrates 'planking.' No, not the kind that kids these days do as a stunt to photograph and put on Facebook. Rather, the kind of planking that will firm up your gut and butt in a low-impact, isometric way.
Like golf, this exercise is harder than it looks. But also like golf, anyone can do it, even if you're just starting out.
