PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – The annual 17th hole caddie contest at The Players Championship was won by Anthony Knight, Aaron Baddeley’s man who hit his approach to 9 feet, 11 inches.
“It looked great all the way,” Baddeley said. “And the best thing was he called it all day. He said, ‘It was his time.’” Best bit is he holed the putt for birdie.”
Not everyone was as fortunate as Knight. Don Cooper, Lucas Glover’s caddie, pulled his tee shot into the water, one of many water balls. Although in the caddie’s defense a rare “into” wind didn’t make things easy this year.
“I hit a great pitching wedge, threw (the club) in the bag and was walking it off and it spun down the hill,” said Gerald “G.W.” Cable, Steve Marino’s man.
