As reported earlier in the week, the PGA of America named Peter Bevacqua as its newest chief executive officer, replacing Joe Steranka who will retire at the end of the year.
Bevacqua, 41, was introduced Saturday as part of the association's annual meetings in Baltimore. Most recently the head of the golf division for CAA Sports, he spent more than a decade with the USGA, serving as the organization's first-ever chief business officer from 2007-2011.
'Pete is a passionate, intelligent leader who is the best choice to lead our renewed emphasis on the importance of our membership,' said Ted Bishop, who himself was elected Saturday as the association's next president.
'It is an unbelievable honor and literally a dream come true to be given the opportunity to lead the PGA of America staff,' Bevacqua explained upon being introduced.
In addition to naming Bevacqua as its newest CEO, the PGA of America also announced that Darrell Crall will become chief operating officer.
