SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – American captain Beth Daniel believes strong legs will win her team the Solheim Cup.
That’s why she sat Cristie Kerr in Friday’s afternoon foursomes after Kerr’s terrific performance in the morning fourballs.
It’s why she will sit Paula Creamer Saturday morning though Creamer won both her matches Friday and has lost just once in 12 Solheim Cup matches.
“I don’t want to play anybody five matches,” Daniel said. “That’s my goal. I’m trying to save their strength for Sunday. This is a very tough golf course to walk. There are a lot of big distances between greens and tees. I feel like we have enough depth on this team that we don’t have to play anybody five matches, and I know Cristie [Kerr] played extremely well this morning.”
Creamer never sat in her previous two Solheim Cups. Daniel said Creamer didn’t like hearing she would sit but accepted it.
