NBA legend Michael Jordan recently came under fire when his choice of shorts did not meet the dress code of an upscale Florida country club.
According to a New York Post report, Jordan wore cargo shorts for a recent round at La Gorce Country Club in Miami Beach. That type of apparel is not permitted at the club, which requires Bermuda shorts in addition to a collared shirt for both members and guests, according to sources cited in the report.
Jordan was told of the dress code violation in the middle of his round and offered a chance to change clothes, which he reportedly declined.
'Michael Jordan did wear cargo pants,' a representative for Jordan noted in the report. 'He had been there many times before...and had never been made aware that he was violating any dress code.
'This time, he was made aware of the violation on the 12th hole, and at that point...he did refuse to interrupt his game.'
According to a source cited in the report, Jordan was playing as the guest of a club member when other members began to complain about the infraction.
'He won't be invited back,' the source added.
The club itself did not respond for comment according to the report, but Jordan's rep did address the issue.
'We were not aware that he is not allowed to return at La Gorce,' the rep added according to the report. 'I guess it's their loss - as MJ is a great golfer, and a great guest.'
