Graeme McDowell has confirmed that he will tee it up for Team Europe at the inaugural EurAsia Cup next March.
McDowell was one of four automatic qualifiers for the 10-man European team by virtue of his position in the final Race to Dubai standings. He will be joined by Jamie Donaldson, Victor Dubuisson and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano in what could be viewed as a showcase event to impress Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.
“It’s a great concept to bring Asia and Europe together,” McDowell said in a release, “and I think it has a lot of potential to become a very big event.”
The rest of the European side will include the leading four available players from the Official World Ranking, the playing captain (Miguel Angel Jimenez) and one captain’s pick.
Team Europe, meanwhile, will consist of the leading four available players from the final 2013 Asian Tour Order of Merit, the leading three available Asian players via the Official World Ranking, the playing captain (Thongchai Jaidee) and two captain’s picks.
The event will be held March 27-29 at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur.
