Graeme McDowell has withdrawn from this week's Wells Fargo Championship, joining a list of top players who are skipping the week at Quail Hollow.
McDowell finished T-57 last week at the Zurich Classic, which was to be the first of five weeks in a row on the road.
'With my upcoming busy schedule, I have withdrawn from the Wells Fargo event this week. I was a little under the weather both physically and with my game last week. Very much wanted to play Quail Hollow, but didn't want to go there undercooked,' he tweeted Monday. 'Practice and rest for me this week. See you at Players.'
McDowell is one of several players who will not be in the field this week in Charlotte. In fact, the top three from New Orleans will be absent. Jason Dufner is getting married in Alabama, while Ernie Els and Luke Donald are preparing for The Players Championship in other ways.
The 2010 U.S. Open champion now has this week off to do some homework.
'It was more of the same,' he tweeted. 'Drove it great, iron play was average and didn't chip and putt well.'
