MARANA, Ariz. – Despite suggestions that Dustin Johnson’s caddie Bobby Brown may be headed for unemployment following last week’s starting time snafu at the Northern Trust Open a member of Camp DJ confirmed on Tuesday that the looper’s job is not in danger.
Brown misread last week’s Round 1 starting time and Johnson was assessed a two-stroke penalty for arriving late to the first tee. Brown also took heat when Johnson failed to realize he was in a bunker on the 72nd hole of last year’s PGA Championship, grounded his club and was given a two-stroke penalty that cost him a spot in a playoff won by Martin Kaymer.
“DJ is very superstitious about that stuff. Trust me,” one player said last week, pointing out that Brown has been on Johnson’s bag for all four of his Tour victories.
