Trouble for Tiger
Nothing is really working well today, including his putter.
He just missed a golden chance for birdie at his 15th hole in the first round of the Deutsche Bank Championship, missing an 8-footer. He walked off the green shaking his head in more depression and frustration than anger.
It was among the few close chances he has had on the day.
Woods made bogey at his 14th hole, blowing his drive right into the woods and taking a penalty. It dropped him to even par and eight shots behind the leader, playing partner Steve Stricker.
Woods failed to birdie his 16th hole, a par 5, after pulling his drive left into the fescue. He dropped his driver there as the ball sailed off line. He walked slowly off that tee with his head down but finally found something to enjoy with a birdie at his 17th hole.
