Making his penultimate start of the calendar year this week in Turkey, world No. 1 Tiger Woods will play the first round of the Turkish Airlines Open alongside current Race to Dubai leader Henrik Stenson and reigning U.S. Open winner Justin Rose.
The trio will tee off at 4:05 a.m. ET during Thursday's opening round at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal, immediately following the group of Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Matteo Mannasero off the first tee.
Woods and Stenson have had plenty of quality time over the past two months, as the two were grouped together for multiple rounds at both the BMW Championship and Tour Championship due to their proximity in the FedEx Cup standings.
Rose is one of several players looking to chip away at Stenson's season-long advantage heading into the DP World Tour Championship. The Englishman is currently third in the Race to Dubai standings, trailing Stenson by 325,100 euros, with Graeme McDowell in second place and Poulter and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano rounding out the top five.
With the start of the tournament still a day away, Woods took time Wednesday for a media appearance in which he piped an inter-continental drive – literally. Teeing off from the middle of Istanbul's Bosphorous Bridge (see picture above), Woods struck a tee shot from Asia into Europe across the iconic bridge linking the two continents.
