Juli Inkster and Laura Diaz will be the first to tee off in their 9:00 a.m. ET match against Laura Davies and Paula Marti.
Both Inkster and Davies have plenty of Solheim Cup experience but Davies holds the record as all-time points earner at 14 with Dottie Pepper. Since Pepper was unable to participate this week, its a given that Davies will hold that honor all by her self. Davies' overall foursomes record is 6-3-0 while Inksters is 2-1-2. The youngsters in this group, Diaz and Marti are both Cup rookies.
Beth Daniel and Wendy Ward will take on Iben Tinning and Raquel Carriedo in the 8:12 a.m. ET match.
Daniel, the oldest member of the team, is one of two players with the most Solheim Cup experience. Her foursomes record from the last five Solheim Cups that she has participated in is 2-4-0.
Ward, 16 years Daniel's junior, is participating in her first Solheim Cup. Raquel Carriedo played on the victorious 2000 European team but did not participate in the foursomes. Her teammate Iben Tinning is one of six Cup rookies on the European team. The U.S. pair of Daniel and Ward has more experience but what Carriedo and Tinning lack in experience, they make up for in fearless youth.
Kelly Robbins and Pat Hurst will battle against Europes match play aficionado, Helen Alfredsson, and teammate Suzann Pettersen.
This may be the match of the day as fierce competitor Hurst meets up with feisty Alfredsson. Hurst, now 33 years old, has played on the last two Solheim Cup teams. Her overall foursome record is 3-1-0. Robbins brings four prior years' Solheim Cup experience and has a 3-3-1 overall foursomes record. The two were successfully paired together in 1998 and again in 2000.
The world's No. 1 player, Annika Sorenstam, joins Carin Kohn in the foursomes inale, meeting the American pair of Meg Mallon and Kelli Kuehne and Annika Sorenstam and Carin Koch.
Sorenstam has been mandated to win four points for her team, leaving 11 players to come up with the other 10 points for victory. Sorenstam has played on four Solheim Cup teams and has a stunning 5-1-1 overall foursomes record. Her teammate, Carin Koch, is playing in her second Solheim Cup. She has a 1-0-0 foursomes record.
