Sirak was in California this week for the Chevron World Challenge. Watching Tiger win this week, Ron saw Tiger hit shots that he had not seen in three years. The sound of the golf ball off the clubface was back as well as the swagger. It was great to see Tiger play the way he has in the past again.
Rory McIlroy came to Hong Kong exhausted and struggled in the third round to fall three shots back. After 12 hours of sleep and some room service, Rory shot a final round 65 to win by 2 shots and he will now have a chance to win the Race to Dubai. Ron chalked it up to the fact that he is 22 years old.
Harris English is in great position to earn his 2012 PGA TOUR card at Q-School today and it would be a culmination of a great year where he won on the Nationwide Tour as an amateur, played on the U.S. Walker Cup team, nearly won on the Nationwide Tour after turning pro, and now he will likely have a PGA TOUR card.
Stephanie Kono intended to go to LPGA Tour Q-School to earn a Futures Tour card and she would turn pro after finishing the year at UCLA. However, she did not need to go to Final Stage to earn Futures Tour privledges but since she finished in the top 20, she earned her LPGA Tour card and was forced to turn pro and give up her amateur status and with it her final year on the UCLA Women’s Golf team (scholarship included). Because of the circumstances, Sirak feels that it is possible that an exemption will be made which will allow Kono to delay turning pro until after college.
