PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Davis Love III said there can more than physical stress for Tiger Woods’ in playing with a bad neck.
“When you’re not playing well, it wrecks your confidence,” Love said after posting a 4-under-par 68 Sunday at The Players Championship, making him the first player of the day to post a round in the 60s.
Woods withdrew at the seventh hole complaining of pain in his neck. Love has played with neck problems the last few years.
“It’s funny that he and I were talking about my neck injury earlier in the week and that I needed to work out more,” Love said. “We were talking about working out some together, and he pulls out for the same thing that bothers me.
“I know how he feels. It’s a scary feeling when your fingers are tingling and you’re hitting shots and getting headaches. It’s a weird feeling. You don’t know what to do.”
