Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the Makena Golf Course opened in 1993 to rave reviews. The Makena Golf Course feels more like a nature walk than a golf course, with captivating mountain views of Haleakala Crater and sweeping views of the blue Pacific Ocean. Hawaiian rock walls remain where they were found, and natural gullies and stream beds have been left in their natural state.
The 9-hole South Course at the Makena Golf Courses facility in Kihei, Hawaii is combined with the North course to feature 6,914 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.1 and it has a slope rating of 139 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., ASGCA, the golf course opened in 1993.
