Set beneath the dramatic backdrop of South Mountain, Gary Panks designed the newest addition to the roster of Phoenix’s municipal golf courses. Both the 18-hole championship course and the executive 9-hole par 3 course offer a challenging layout to all levels of golfers.
The 18-hole "Aguila" course at the Aguila Golf Course facility in Laveen, Arizona features 6,962 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73 and it has a slope rating of 125 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Gary Panks, ASGCA, the Aguila golf course opened in 1999.
Both courses are flanked by numerous bunkers and holes, with transition areas of native grasses and wild flowers. The 18-Hole Championship Course features three lakes coming into play on five holes, continuous cart paths and four sets of tees.
