Opening for play November 5th 2005, Escena Golf Club is conveniently located near the Palm Springs International Airport. Designed by Nicklaus Design, this classic 18-hole layout, carved out of the California Desert, is the first brand-new golf course to be built in the city of Palm Springs since 1986.
Escena Golf Club will offer an experience unlike any other. Surrounded by awe-inspiring views of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains, glimpses of vintage glamour accompany you as you play its dramatic 7,173 yard layout. Wide playing corridors, clusters of towering Mexican fan palms, small native trees and abundant desert flowers are sure to create spiritual golf experience you are not to soon forget.
The name Escena reflects both the defining architectural and diverse lifestyle history of Palm Springs, two important attributes that are leading the way to revitalization and repositioning of the city as an exciting desert retreat. Escena Golf Club will offer scenic desert and mountain views along with Southern California`s famous healing climate to everyone wishing to take part.
Panoramic views from numerous vantage points will help showcase the Golf Club`s impressive mid-century modern style clubhouse expected to include a restaurant and dining rooms, a large terrace lounge, men`s and women`s locker rooms and golf shop. The clubhouse is being designed by Douglas Fredrickson Architects, Inc, and is slated to open in late 2006.
Escena Palm Springs is a joint venture of Lennar Communities Inland and Empire Companies. The Golf Club is managed by Troon Golf, the leader in upscale golf course management.
Blending championship golf with a classic Palm Springs setting, a round at Escena Golf Club is as much about the surroundings as it is about unforgettable golf. The towering San Jacinto mountains and blue desert skies frame the flight of every tee shot. Abundant palm trees, native desert landscaping and dramatic waterscapes add to the sensory feast. A meal or a drink in the stunning mid-century environs of the Escena Grill is a perfect way to round out your day.
Of course, the centerpiece of the Escena experience is its expertly crafted by Nicklaus Design golf course. Unobstructed sightlines and generous driving corridors give you a clear view of how to navigate each hole. Strategically placed bunkers, water hazards and undulating greens are there before you, but at the same time there is ample room for you to decide how much you want to flirt with them. With back tees stretching to nearly 7,200 yards, Escena offers a formidable test for the skilled player, but with four sets of tees and room to roam, how you satisfy your personal appetite for challenge is entirely up to you. Escena has been recognized as a Top Ten Public Course in California by PGATOUR.com, and was voted the Best Public Golf Course in the 2010 Palm Springs Life “Best of the Best” Reader’s Choice competition.
But Escena is much more than just fantastic golf. The Escena Lounge & Grill transcends what is typically expected of golf club fare. With its delectable food and drink offerings, hip mid-century vibe, spacious indoor/outdoor seating and stunning views of the San Jacinto mountains, the Escena Lounge & Grill has become one of the most popular gathering venues in Palm Springs.
In addition to the golf course and grill, Escena offers a warm-up practice tee, a short game practice area and a putting green. Tournaments and social gatherings can be accommodated in the private dining room or spacious outdoor lawns.
We invite you to experience the golf course that is the talk of Palm Springs.
