Nick Faldo, a six time major champion and the Ryder Cup’s all-time point leader has earned his place among golf’s elite. His unstinting pursuit of excellence combined with unrivaled shot-making abilities has gained him a reputation as one of the greatest competitors the sport has ever produced.
Already established as an internationally acclaimed designer, Faldo unveiled his talents at his first U.S. design at Marriott’s Shadow Ridge Resort in Palm Desert, California. Set against the Santa Rosa Mountains, Faldo’s vast international experience and passion for strategic design are in clear evidence at Marriott’s Shadow Ridge.
According to Faldo, his first U.S. design draws inspiration from the great sand-belt courses of Australia, notably, Kingston Heath and Royal Melbourne.
“Our fairways are typically generous, but our bunkering style is impressively bold. The greens have plenty of subtle undulations and they reward and encourage a variety of approach shots. Miss the green here and your ball will invariably roll into a tightly-mown collection area or a greenside bunker.”
