-11 ladies from all corners of the world have arrived on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu with one ultimate goal in mind, to play on the LPGA Tour. -Winning the Big Break would be the truest version of the best way to take that next step to becoming an LPGA golfer. -To win the Big Break, I'm not sure I'm capable of wrapping my mind around how important that would be. -Every facet of their golf game will be thoroughly tested as Vince Cellini and Stephanie Sparks will be your tour guides each step of the way through every single heart-stopping elimination. -Every single one of us feels like we deserve it the most. -Tensions are gonna rise as nerves get higher. -They've all come to Hawaii, united only by their desire to win but only one will be crowned champion. Expect the unexpected. The Big Break V Hawaii begins now. -Wow, I really am here in Hawaii. -We're getting treated like royalty, and it's like a whole new world to me. -You really don't know what's coming at you. -Well, it's so unknown. -We didn't know anything before coming out here. -It seemed like it wasn't real. -I think it's gonna be a really great experience. -Hit one shot at a time. -It's definitely the unknown. I'm never gonna know what's gonna happen. -Wake up, pinch myself and wake up, "Am I here? Really, is this happening?" -Okay. -I was the first. -A good-looking gentleman helped me out of the car. Thanksgiving raid right off the [unk]. -It's absolutely gorgeous. I definitely wanna walk-- come out walking. -Turtle Bay is-- it's beautiful. It's exquisite. It's sexy. It's a sexy place. -We had no idea where we were going. -Oh, thank you. Thank you. Hello! -Aloha! -Welcome to Turtle Bay Resort. -Thank you. -The North Shore with all these waves-- -Beautiful! Paradise! -[unk]. -When do we go into the beach? -[unk]. -You have no idea what you're expecting. It's the idea and it's such the element of surprise. -Aloha! -Aloha! -Welcome to Turtle Bay Resort. -Getting received by a lei. Getting a summer cheek. -Very, very nice welcome and amazing start. -Check it out [unk]. Sweet man. Look at that. -What could happen next? -Have fun. Looks like you're already having fun. Alright, later. -See yah. -[unk] guy. -Hello, welcome! -Hi. -How you doing? -Thank you. -We get off the Hummer and there's this 2 Hawaiian cute boys put a lei around me. I was like, "This is like paradise." -Aloha! -Hi. -How are you? -Great. How are you? -We got, you know, lei by a rather tattooed man. So, that was a nice welcome to Hawaii. -[unk]. -I know. -[unk]. -Until I actually landed in Hawaii, I was like, "Wow, this is real, like I'm really gonna be on the Big Break." -Me too. -Aloha! -We can feel that something really good is gonna happen. -Aloha! -How are you? -Good. How about you? -Welcome to Turtle Bay Resort. -[unk], they come in with a sweat. [unk] the door [unk] all the time and she said, "gotta wear something comfortable," and she's going to wear sweat. I'm telling him [unk] her 'cause [unk] sweat. -[unk]. -It wasn't like a personal attack. It was just, you know, sorry but this is the game. -So I'm gonna go with Nikki. -Nikki was pissed. -For that moment, I was not happy. -Well, I was really excited to get down to the beach, just getting outside and smelling it, smelling like the air. It's really beautiful. -Let's go sit at that table. -We had a nice bartender. -Which one do you want? -[unk]. -[unk]. -Sounds good. -He was quite often filling our glasses of [unk] in Hawaii and piña coladas and-- -Cheers. -Cheers. -you know, whatever you like. -It's heaven right there. -First impressions are pretty important. -We are absolutely bipolar opposites. -So I wonder when the other girl is gonna come in, you know. -Yeah. -So there's 10 of us? -I don't know. -I was really excited to meet the girls. I was like, "I wanna see these other women." -I wonder if there's another lady. -Hi. -How's it going? -Hi! Hello! -How's it going? -[unk]. -Hi, yeah. -I'm Becky Lucidi. Nice to meet you Jo D. -Jo D. Me and Jo are actually scarily a lot alike. -You fire at Becky. Becky is gonna fire right back at you. -Okay. -Catch, would you? -Yes. -Yeah. -Here we go. -Nice meeting new friends. -Yeah. -Cheers. -In Hawaii. -Hawaii. -Cheers. -Jo D and I are the older one-- the older ones in the bunch. -Hey, just put your hair back down. -That is delicious. -You won in a little chugging contest? -That's delicious. -Yeah, I was. Kidding. -No, I'm not. -I've known Becky already, so Nikki is new for me to meet. -Ashley. -Nice meeting you, Ashley. -Nice to meet you. -I like her for me. She's fine. -Nikki is the type of person that she's not gonna tolerate static from anybody. -Ashley is charismatic and bubbly. They call her the blonde bombshell and it fits her perfect. -She has the whole motherly thing going. She has 2 kids, 2 boys. She's actually a very spunky mom. -Aloha! -Piña colada in a tropical island, never bad. -I picked up this [unk]. -Thank you. -And she's Swedish. -I can't hear my accent. -[unk] Kristina, she went to do rivalry in North Carolina, so we've already started off with a little rivalry there. -[unk]. -Guys like it. -Yeah. -They'll like it. -Hi! Kristina. -This is just all familiar faces. I recognized at least 4 of them. -Becky! -How are you? -Long time no see. -She's so excited, you know. I mean she is just-- she can't wipe the smile off her face right now. -I can't handle this. -Well, I got to meet Katie about halfway from Futures this year and me and my friend Cathy actually play with her and her friend a little money game and a practice round. -How are you? -Good. How are you? -Really good. -Wow, like we're all young. We're all gorgeous. -[unk]. -It's great to hear her story like she's put a lot on hold to help her sister and help their family. -I was working 3 jobs when I was 17. I had to support Dorothy to Q school. -You can't be more jealous around here. That's not fair. That's not Dorothy. -I also got a sister. -Great. -Oh, yeah? -Dana is awesome. -She's gonna just do what she feels like doing and say what she feels like saying. -We all have different personalities, but we all have enjoyed each other's company so far. We haven't had any controversy or anything that has gone on yet. It's the first day. -Oh, it's a bunch of women. There's bound to be cat fights. -The luau was phenomenal. -At that point, it was-- that's it, we're in Hawaii. -The sun was setting and it was just perfect. And then we had these 2 really hot guys come out and do some dancing. It was great. -He's-- people can move their hips like there's no tomorrow. -I tried to do the moves afterwards but it's impossible. -And then the fire dancer. Oh, my gosh. -Ashley and Becky I think will compete for the Hawaiian dancers. -Whoa! -He was outstanding and he had such a cute little face with a smile and he was so playful. -Whoa! -It was exciting to get the bag but even more because a cute Hawaiian boy brought it out for us. -Everything just sets in when you see the golf bags and everything kind of comes together. -Sweet! -Oh, that's pretty nice. It's so neat to see your name on a professional bag like that, so that was a nice treat, treat for the eyes. -Hi, ladies. -I've seen you on TV before. -Hi. -Hi. -Hi. -I'm Vince Cellini and I'll be one of your hosts for Big Break V. Welcome to all of you. -Thank you. -Thank you. -And get ready for the golf experience of a lifetime wrapped in paradise. -Yes. -Can you handle Turtle Bay? -Yes! -Yeah! -I see a little wildness here. I like that. How do you like the Turtle Bay cottages right here on the beach-- little beach front? Well, come tomorrow, these will be your accommodations. -Yeah! -However-- however, there is a little bit of a catch. -Okay. -When producers cast the show, they decided to use 11 contestants. There are 10 of you. Unfortunately, the 11th contestant had literally pulled out of the competition this morning. The 10-person feel will stay in place. Now, we're going to the first alternate and she's on her way. She's en route right now. -What? Who is this mystery woman? Why her? -Big shock. -There will be 11 and the thing about it is there are only 10 beds in the cottages and 11 players. Come tomorrow, you will compete for a place in the cottages and a place on the show. Come tomorrow, someone is going to get eliminated. -Wasn't prepared for that. -You just didn't wanna hear that on the first day. -We were shocked. We were nervous. We were all scared. -Take a look at one another tonight. It may be the last night you share on the island because that person is not only off the show but leaving Hawaii. -We were all just-- -Oh, it's our first night. Somebody is gonna go home tomorrow, no matter what. -Like, hello, welcome to the Big Break. -You definitely start to size it up and you start to think, "Well, I know my game is a lot surer than her in that aspect. But, she's very good at this." -I'm walking out the plane going, "This is it. Here's the Big Break that I've been looking for." -[unk] from a long flight. -I got a phone call and the number, it looked like the Big Break number that I've been called on before. -It's been a lot. It's gonna be a long day. -We need you here as soon as possible. -I got a phone call out in Hawaii and it was awesome. Yey! -So I went home literally that second. Went home, packed. -You can't quite fathom the excitement that you feel when you get there. It's like-- -Then all of a sudden, you got all the hope in the world because you know that you can compete and you know that you're finally being given the chance that you feel like you deserve. Talk about a huge turn of events. Unbelievable. -Oh, my god. I'm the luckiest person in the world. -Good morning, ladies. -Good morning. -Good morning. -And isn't it a beautiful morning here on the island? -Aloha! -Aloha! -You could feel the tension in the air and everyone was getting excited about starting the competition. -Ladies, welcome to the spot where you hope to start your day well into the series. We are at the rock at the 18th green of the Arnold Palmer course at Turtle Bay Resort. This young lady is my co-host, Stephanie Sparks. -Ladies, welcome. -Hi. -Hello. -Now, as promised, this is a different first episode than ever before and an 11th competitor has made it to the island. We wanna bring her out right now. The first alternate making at 11, Julie Wells is with us. Julie, come on out. -Hello! -I'm getting thrown into this basket of complete chaos. So, it's like, "Okay, try to breathe, try to be calm." -How you all doing? I'm Julie. -I'm Jo D. -Jo D. -I'm thinking where does this girl come from because the rest of us are kind of tired, but she is ready to go. -We were wondering if she was gonna take somebody else's spot today. -Nice to get to meet you all. I'm gonna forget everybody's names but nice to meet you all. -I wasn't so scared of meeting everybody and going, "Oh, they're not gonna like me." 'Cause whether or not they like me or not, that's not what any of us are here for. -Better late than never, right, Julie? -Yes, I'm here. -Yeah. -Alright. And once again, ladies, a reminder that this first episode is different than any other in Big Break history. -Basically, what you're gonna be faced with today is a sudden death playoff. Every single shot will determine whether you stay or whether you go home. -Oh, this is real. One of us is gonna leave today. -I am not about to lose this and go home like the same day. I was not about to do that. -It was overwhelming here and all that stuff. -I was really, really nervous. -So I'm gonna find out pretty quickly who will make the cut. Now, Kim, I have to admit when we got the list of competitors for Big Break V, I saw your name and was so excited and, ladies, you might not know this but Kim and I played against each other in college. And let me tell you, she's a player. -Thank you. Thank you. -Yeah, sneaky player here. -Thank you. Thank you. -But, Kim, you were in an all-America University of North Carolina. A lot has changed since then. You're now a mother of 2. -Yes. -Why start now? -You know, seeing Vijay Singh at the top of his game, seeing Freddie Couples this year playing incredible golf, I said-- and I'm younger than they are, in the best shape of my life, I'm gonna give it one more try, you know, and see if I can-- if I can get out there and play. -And speaking of seasoned players, Becky, you have an amazing resume. -Thank you. -Former Women's Amateur Champion, all-America USC. Why is this a good vehicle for you? What brought you here? -Just the potential, use the potential, you know. I saw how successful Big Break for you was. I saw how it's kind of changed most of those girls' life. I love that opportunity. Obviously, my dream is to play and compete on the LPGA amongst the best and this is the perfect avenue to help me get there. -Oh, we're thrilled to have you here and all of you, ladies, as well really. So, what goes to the Big Break V champion, you might ask. Are you wondering? -Yes. -Yes. -Alright. First and foremost, LPGA exemption to the Safeway Classic. -2006 Safeway Classic, it would be unbelievable to play in it. -Also, Bridgestone Golf is offering an equipment endorsement contract to help you out along the way. -The winner will also receive a developmental package which includes exempt status to all the remaining events on the 2006 Futures Tour including- now get this, all your entry fees and travel expenses will be covered. -My jaw hit the ground and I liked dragged it off that said. -That is definitely one of, you know, girl's dream come true just trying to make it on the LPGA Tour. -What more could you possibly ask for? -And we're also gonna include personal world-class golf instruction from Dean Reinmuth, some fitness training from Katherine Roberts and let's face it something, we all could use a little mental coaching from Dr. Gio Valiante. Now, ladies, let me tell you, I've been where you are. I know how difficult it is to make ends meet and when I heard about this package, I got chills. -We were like teary-eyed because you're going-- we finally get the chance to get what it is we need to be there. -But, ladies, there's more. Golfsmith is providing a $10,000 prize package to the winner. Are you ready for this? -I know you are. The winner drives away in a stylish Chrysler Crossfire Roadster. So, you're all set. Right now, it's up to you, ladies. So that's the good news. Now the bad news is, by the end of the show, one of you is gonna be leaving the island and leaving Big Break V. While the rest, final 10 or the 10 remaining will move into those beach front cottages and continue to play on. So the first challenge awaits. By the end of this next challenge, one of you will be standing and the rest will be in pieces at her feet. Off we go, ladies. Let's go. -Everyone got a little bit more focused. Everyone was a bit more serious because everyone wants to win. -I had a lot of nerves today, more than I've ever felt before. -You definitely start to size it up and you start to think, "Well, I know my game is a lot surer than her in that aspect. But, she's very good at this." -What does she got? What does she got? Everyone is looking to see who's got what? -What's the first thing you don't wanna do on the first day? Go home. -Looking out and seeing all the glass panes set up gave us chills. -Everybody was like, "Well, you know, sorry, nothing personal." It's personal. -Ladies, how are you? -Good, thanks. -How you doing? -It's good to see you again. -Kick off. Here it goes. This is the start of quite an adventure. -Well, you've reached your first challenge and there it is staring right back at you. It is the glass frames, the challenge most closely identified with the Big Break. -Looking out and seeing all the glass panes set up gave us chills. -Only this time, we're raising the stakes a little higher. Usually, this is a fun challenge. It's all about getting the jitters out. It's an icebreaker. Not this time. It's pretty straightforward. A player will step up here, call out a name on the glass and attempt to break that glass. If she does so, the player who hit will continue on until she misses. -Don't mess with my glass. -Now, we mentioned how this is a sudden death and, guess what, it all begins right here. The player who has their glass remaining intact at the end of this competition is safe and gets a bed and you're in Big Break V. -I don't think anybody could sit here and say that they weren't scared. Even the best person out here couldn't say that they weren't scared. -Get ready, ladies. Grab your clubs. Let's get started. -Julie, you're first up. Choose your target. -I think I'm gonna go with Katie. -Katie [unk]. -When you're going up there for your first shot of the whole thing, you just wanna be comfortable with the shot. -I was just trying to remember how to breathe. -Good luck [unk]. -Kim, you're next. -I think I will choose-- -You're having to pick people that possibly could be leaving that day. -Looks like Ashley's angles easier. -Of course, I am dead center. -Sorry, Ash. -And I have the easiest glass to break. -It's my [unk] too. I know. -I'm gonna be lucky if I even get to take a shot. -Oh! -First shot. -Sorry, Ash. -Everybody was like, "Well, you know, sorry, nothing personal." It's personal. -I got knocked out of this first challenge and I did absolutely nothing wrong. I'm just gonna sit here and twiddle my thumbs for a while. -Who's next? -I guess I'll go down the line and go with Becky. -Good luck! -Oh, don't pick me. Oh, you picked me. Oh, don't hit my glass. -I'm so nervous. -You were. -Well, Kristina, my fellow [unk], you're up. Who is it gonna be for you? -It's gonna be Becky. -I think I'm popular. -Okay, Katie. -I'll go with Dana. She's farther away from my angle. -Oh, darn it. -That was a big sigh from Dana. -Alright, Jeanne. -I'll try Dana too. -Oh! -It went right over it. -Dana, go ahead. I know-- -Dana, it's you. -I know you've been waiting to hit your shot, so get out there. -Revenge is sweet. -[unk]. -Oh. That was one. -[unk]. -When I hit mine, I was so nervous. -I'm just gonna go for Nikki. It's a little far from my name. -Someone can knock you out, [unk]. You're going to the next challenge whether you like it or not. -Oh. -Good shot. -Becky, you're up. -All around here is business. Survival of the fittest down here. -Jeanne, I'm gonna try and break your glass. -Oh, really? -I have a feeling she's gonna hit it. -Oh. -Jo D. -I'm gonna go for [unk]. -Nice. -Good shot. -Sorry. -[unk]. -Dana. -Alright, Nikki. -Nikki. -I always wanted to do the glass breaking. -I'll go for Katie. -Oh. -Whoa! -It sucks. -Okay, so we have 2 players down. -I'm gonna go with Dana. -I wanted so bad to get hot and just start breaking. -Oh! -I thought maybe it would break. -Oh! -How the heck did that hit the frame without hitting the glass? -That thing almost hit me. -Yeah. -It's a game of vengeance. -Okay, Kim. -I think I'm gonna try Kristina. -I got worried because she knew how to hit a shot. -Oh! Very large bang and a very sad bang. -I'm gonna try Divina next. -Kim, I'm gonna go for you. -I don't want to start eliminating obviously in the competition. -If it was a foot higher, Kim would have been gone. -Okay, Dana, 3 glasses have been broken. Who's it gonna be? -I think I'd go with Julie. That's what I thought. -Oh. -Divina. -Alright, Divina. -I knew that, you know, if I didn't step up and start knocking everyone out that I was gonna get knocked out. -I'm gonna go for Katie. -Whoa! -I'm so sorry. -It wasn't like a personal attack. It was just, you know, sorry but that's the game. -She knew that it was time. Jo D. -Oh, close. -Close. -Right over the top. Good job, Divina. -Julie. -Alright. You're gonna go after me, I'll go right after you. -Oh. -Good swing, though. -It's a good shot. -Nice shot. -So, I'm gonna go with Nikki. -Is that a [unk]? -She didn't actually hit my glass. She hit the board. -Then, somehow I shattered my glass. -Is that a break? -Yes. -My name is totally intact. -Nikki was pissed. -For that moment, I was not happy. -I got her. -I wanna take Divina. -Alright, Becky. -Oh. -I'm gonna try Dana. -Oh. -Good shot. -Nice shot. -Sorry. -We're not really sorry. -I'm gonna try Divina. -Okay, Divina. 6 glasses have been broken, 5 remain. -I'm pretty lucky right now to even be able to talk. -[unk]. -Yeah. -Sorry, Julie. -Oh. -[unk]. You hit it. -Oh. -I think the frame was shaken on that one. -Jo D. -Alright, I'm still gonna go with Divina here. -I got scared at that point. -Nice. -Good shot. -I had Kim. I had Julie, Becky and myself. There were 4 that were left. -I'm gonna go with Julie. -Oh! -Nice shot. -I was actually kind of [unk] Jo knocked her glass out. [unk]. I wanna knock Julie. -I'll go with Kim. It's vital to take Kim out now. Kim is taking me. -Then she chose mine and I was nervous. -Nice. -Good shot. -Got her. Sorry, Kim. -Jo D, you played yourself out of the show. Who's the next shot? -I was pretty confident she was gonna knock me out. -Wohoo! Nice one. -Hey, good one. -Good job. -So it ends up with Becky and I in the final. -My hands were definitely shaking. My heart was pounding. -Just to the right. -Just to the right. -Ohh. -Alright, Beck. -Still at it. -She's not gonna miss again. I'm like, "I gotta hit this now." -Oh, there it goes. -Oh, nice. -Well done, Becky. -[unk]. -Congratulations. -I actually watched Becky smash my glass. It was brutal. I will have to tell you. -That's the big break. It doesn't-- you don't have to be good all the time. You just gotta pull it off when it counts. -Jo D, you were a glass-breaking machine out there. But in the end, Becky, you survived and congratulations. Now, you are safe and on to the next show. -For the other 10 of you, we have more to do. So let's get going. -I can hit a golf ball far. I mean I can hit it far. Compared to all the women that I've played with, I've never had a woman hit the ball farther than me. -It's a lesson to be learned right here this quick is that if you try to have a strategy, you have to remember it's golf and, you know, sometimes you get a good break and sometimes you don't. -So to make it that far and get back close is a kill. It really was. -I can't relate to them, you know. They all kinda have a little bit of up on me already actually hitting the shots. So, this would be my first time to actually get up in front of all the cameras. They kind of already calmed a little bit and I'm still pretty heightened. -Even though I was knocked up right away and didn't take a shot, I was in the exact same place as Jo D, who did all the dirty work and still we're both going to the next challenge completely here. -Ladies, welcome to your next challenge, but before we get to this, I do wanna say congratulations to Becky, again, on winning that glass breaking. -Thank you. -You're safe and on to the next show. Now, you observe. You can take a look at everyone else's swing. -It's pretty nice to be relieved from having to do this contest this afternoon. -What we have for you here is a driving challenge. But again, like the glass breaking, it's different than any driving challenge we've ever done on the show here before. -In a random draw, the 10 remaining competitors are paired off into 5 head-to-head match-ups. They will each have one attempt to hit their ball into a grid. The amount of points earned is determined by the length of the drive. If the competitor's ball comes to rest in the middle of the grid, 2 bonus points will be added to their score. If they miss the grid, no points will be awarded. The competitor who scores the most points in their head-to-head match-up will be immune from elimination. -Nikki and Julie, you're our first match. Nikki, you have the honors. -Good luck everyone. -Good luck. -I can hit a golf ball far. I mean I can hit it far. -Alright, this should be interesting because I know I don't have the distance of a lot of the girls out here. -Compared to all the women that I've played with, I've never had a woman hit the ball farther than me. -I looked at Julie and I'm like, "that's not a good pair." -Oh, [unk]. -I thought [unk]. -I was shocked. I was absolutely shocked because I went, "wow, that's not what I expected to see." My nerves went up because here I am, all I have to do is get it on the grid. -Good shot. -It was a good shot. -Thank you. Thank you. -I felt like, "Oh, my gosh, I really blew that opportunity." -When I walked up, my legs were like jell-o, "Okay, you can breathe. You're on. You're going to the next one." -Congratulations, Julie. -Thank you. -Pair second match, Divina and Katie. -I was a little scared. -I've been having troubles with my driver. -If you don't hit a good shot, then you know and somebody else does after you, you're done. -Here's the situation. Well, it's almost better than the second. -Of course, then I get nervous, you know, 'cause I'm afraid I'm gonna miss the grid and I can barely breathe and I can't swing if I can't breathe. -Oh, sliced that good. -Oh, I got so lucky on that one. -Okay. -Good. -Yeah, yeah. Alright. -Good work. -I was more nervous during that shot than I was during LPGA Q School. -Alright, we got 2 safe. Go ahead, Dana. -I've seen Jeanne play and she's a very good [unk]. -I knew that she was gonna knock it down but I had the first shot obviously. -I was definitely taking a lot more breaths and my heart was beating faster. -Good shot. -Good swing. -Get right! Right! -Yeah, pick up. -Thanks. -I hit it well, so I was happy with that and [unk] so far. -With all this pressure, I didn't even know what was going on. I was so nervous. I just tried to focus on what I was doing. -Good shot. -Nice one. -That was a good shot. -The challenge has worked on her. -Good in the sense it's gonna be interesting. -Nice shot. -Good shot. -So, Dana with 8 points. -9 points. -Wow. -Wow. -Thank you. -Great job, Jeanne. -[unk] and it felt even better because I beat her by 1 point. -A good shot is a good shot and you better honor that. -Our fourth match, Jo D and Ashley. -Ashley never hit a shot. She hasn't hit a shot in the competition all day. -Who do I draw? Jo D, RE/MAX long drive champ. She does this on a regular basis and not only the best player in the first challenge. I'm certainly going, "well, today is my lucky day." -We had a pretty wild wind. It was very easy to lose the ball to the right and obviously the harder you're trying to hit it to gain as many points as you can, the more likely you're gonna miss it to the right. -And then all of a sudden, the nerves hit. Oh, this is what the girls are going through in the first challenge. Literally, my hands are kinda going like this and I'm like, "Oh, I wasn't this nervous at like the U.S. Am. -That's a shot right there. It's got a good kick. -Well done. -Very nice, Ashley. -Nice, Ashley. -8 points. -That was an evil competition. It was just brutal because you get 1 shot. -It was definitely extremely nice to be able to take her out during that long drive contest. -It's nice you could finally get a swing in. -Yeah, it was nice to actually get a chance to hit one. -I was scared to death. To pull Kristina knowing her background, I was as nervous as I could be. She's a wonderful player. -So close. -I stood back and thought, "I [unk]." -6 points. -Whoa! -Wow. -I was almost positive [unk]. All of a sudden, "Oh, now, I have to hit it straight then I have to-- I definitely have to be inside the line." -Hang on. -No points. -She broke my glass. She won the driving competition against me. I got mad at her as a competitor. -Ladies, well done. 5 of you have advanced. Julie, Katie, Jeanne, Ashley and Kim, you're on to the next show. For the remaining 5, another challenge awaits and we'll be pairing things down again. -The more it got closer to the elimination, the more it just got so hard like you just, you know-- I started getting down on myself. I just said, "Oh, my god, I didn't wanna go home and I might have to." -Ladies, welcome to our next challenge and it's at the spectacular 17th on the Palmer course at Turtle Bay Resort. It's a short game challenge. Before we get to that, I do wanna congratulate the 6 of you safe and on to the next show. Ashley, Kim, Jeanne, Becky, Katie and Julie, excellent, well done. Now for the remaining 5, you're playing for 4 spots. You have 2 locations, closest to the pin at each location moves on. -Now this first location, it's a pretty tricky one. You're definitely gonna have to commit to the shot. So, think about it, pick your weapon of choice. Let's get started. -I didn't know how the grain is gonna react 'cause we haven't really chipped in to hills. -The more it got closer to the elimination, the more it just got so hard like you just-- you know. I started getting down on myself. I just said, "Oh, my god, I didn't wanna go home and I might have to." -I really, really wanted to make it through this challenge and be safe. -I think, "Well, there's 5 people so I still have a 20% chance." -Very quiet, very intense. I mean it got intense real quick. -Jo D, you're gonna lead us off. Good luck. -Visually, unbelievably intimidating. It really was. -Go! Go! -And that's why you really have to-- you have to commit to it right there. If you get a little too cute with it, you're gonna end up short of the hill and not let it fall back down. -I really wanna hit that shot. I was really happy to be standing on the left side there. -Go ahead, Dana. Good luck. -Go! -Get up! -Go! -I thought it would like skip up a little bit and I actually-- I hit it really badly, so there was no excuses there. I just mishit it and flopped it and that was that. -I'm just thinking, "What are these girls doing? Like is it that hard?" So I'm getting more nervous 'cause these girls got short and I'm like-- I'm just praying at that time like, "Please, I wanna do that." -Good shot. -Good shot. -The other way, please. -[unk]. -That was a perfect shot right there. -I was just very nervous. I knew I had to hit a great shot. That hill was pretty steep and I knew that if I hit in the right spot, the hill would definitely stop the ball. -It's good. -Nice shot. -Nice one. -Thank you. -I was thinking like that's pretty close. -Did I-- did I beat her? I don't know if I was inside Divina. -5 feet 2-1/2 inches. -What was it? -Very nice. 5 feet 2-1/2 inches. Kristina, you're now on the lead. -Took a deep breath and was relieved. -Oh, feels like great, like oh, man, it's just like-- I couldn't breathe anymore. -Alright, Nikki, you know the number you have to beat. Good luck. -I found a really nice part in the hill that I wanted to bounce it on and I was hoping it would release to the hole. -I felt better that she was up there instead of somebody that was great, great at short game. -Somehow it checked up and that was where I hit it. Hadn't it released, it would have been absolutely perfect. Just didn't do what I wanted it to do. -All the stress and everything going out of my body, I'm just finally-- -Kristina, congratulations. -Congratulations. -You join those who are safe and on to our next Big Break V show. Well, ladies, we have one more hole location for you. So another chance to find yourself on the next show and move on. Let's get to that hole location now. -I didn't even know what to think. I was so zoomed out like I'm nervous at the same time. -She's always kind of quiet. -She looked like she couldn't breathe. -Ladies, as you can tell, the opportunities are dwindling but here's another chance to get yourself in a nice beach front cottage and be on Big Break V. It's our second short game location. -Okay, we're down to 4 and then one of you will go on. Second location, a little different than the first, but you still have some choices to make. As you saw on the first location, a couple of different ways to play the shot. This shot is no different. Did a random draw for the order, and Dana you're gonna lead us off. Good luck, ladies. -Good luck, Dana. -The second one was straight uphill with an uphill-- there was like a loo, a little tee before the hole. I didn't wanna run it 'cause I didn't know how slow or how quick that way. So I wanted to try and land it closer to the hole and get it to stop. -Sit! Sit! Back, come back. -I think she was feeling it at that time. The adrenaline was going. I'm not handling myself well once again. -The added pressure really started getting to her and, you know, frankly, I can't blame her. -[unk]. -I purposely picked a dark patch on my green where I wanted it to land and I figured it would roll down to the hole. -[unk]. -Okay, Nikki, 10 feet 1-1/2 inches. -I'm the leader at that time, yeah, absolutely and I felt dizzy about that because it was a hard chip. -I would stop myself. I really was. I had [unk] I was never gonna get to that. -We have 35 yards uphill. Really nothing to worry about. -She dominated in the first challenge. Surprised that she was in a situation that she was in. -I didn't even know what to think. I was so zoomed out like I'm nervous at the same time. -She's always kind of quiet but she looked like she couldn't breathe. -So, Nikki, you're still leading at 10 feet 1-1/2 inches. Now if you hit it inside of that, you're safe and on to the next show. -I get up and I just-- I felt really confident. -So Divina was basically the only person, you know, standing between me and a room. -All I did was see the flag and I'm like, "Just play it 35 yards and let it roll." -Slow down, baby. -Please be close, you know, 'cause I can't take any more of this. -Hands shaking. -I'm looking at it. -7 feet 11-1/2 inches. -Alright. -Good job. -Whoa! -Alright. -Good job. -Absolutely clutch, Divina. -Thanks. -Way to go. -Thank you. -So 3 are remaining now, 2 spots. But wait, there's more. You'll have another opportunity coming up. So, get ready and see who stays alive for our next show. Let's go. -Well, it was rough. It was really rough and I think all 3 of us kind of stood there looking at each other and went, "I can't believe we're actually having to do that." -We got Nikki, myself and Dana and the 3 of us are going to the final competition. -Now, at this point, there's 3 people left and I'm still-- I'm still one of them. And I-- at that point, that's when I started to freak out. -I feel for all 3 of them 'cause you can see in their eyes that they were like, "Oh, my gosh, I have a chance of going home." -The pressure that you're feeling in the Big Break is just so intense. -That really surprised me that she was on there. -Dana is a great player. You could see almost the thought process going through her head going, "Dana, you're better than this. Kick your butt and gear up." -Unbelievable how stressful this whole thing is. -I started getting really serious like, "whoa, this is-- this is serious. I don't wanna be here." -[unk] we're here with, everyone of us and everyone of us know that. -The journey has led us here, ladies, to hole #11 on the Palmer Course at Turtle Bay Resort where this is absolutely, positively your last chance to play yourself onto the Big Break V series. And 2 of you will do that and join the other 8 at those beach front cottages and to another show. But for one of you, you're gonna be packing your bag and leaving Hawaii. It's pretty straightforward. 1 hole, stroke play, high score is gone. -Okay, ladies, par-4 here, dog-leg right. You have a couple of options off the tee. You play it safe to the left. You take it over to the hazard on the right. So play hard. This is it. This is first phase of elimination for all of you. It's something I know we don't look forward to. So good luck. Let's get right to it. -Thanks. -Go get them, girls. -When I got to this hole and I saw it, I was-- I was just in disbelief. -Wow, it was rough. It was really rough and I think all 3 of us kind of stood there and looked at each other and went, "I can't believe we're actually having to do this." -We get out in this [unk] carry this water and this water through the fairways, so-- and then water before the green. -Unfortunately, I drew number one again. -Super intimidating tee shot. So I was not happy about this at all. -All these variables that were going through my head and I'm freaking out that I might be eliminated here. Instincts were telling me to hit the 3-wood, but I wasn't very sure of myself. I didn't commit to my shot at all. I got very lucky. -[unk]. -And I was like, "Well, how did that happen?" -2 things happen. She clears that [unk] she had a nice kick on it there nonstop. It could [unk] disaster. -We're gonna go literally sudden death. -Land soft, baby. -Jo D taking a different [unk]. but she's safe. -And I had a [unk] here in the golf course. I knew my run-outs, knew all my distances. I knew where I wanted to be, how far I wanted to have it in, so just pick the club and hit it. -Yeah. -Great. -Even though she knew it was all rough, she's gonna [unk]. -Let's go see those 2 second shots. -Stopped, everything just stopped. You know, the reality set in. It was like-- -This pin is tucked in the back left about 9 paces from the west side of the green. The ideal play here is to the right. There's a little mound just to the left of the hole. If you're on that left side, you're gonna have a downhill putt. Really the best play here is just to the right of the pin. You'll have a nice uphill putt. -My second shot, I was about 200 yards out. -There's wind coming in. -All I can just do is just hit a hard 4-iron. -I definitely was tense and I just had to get really-- I had adrenaline going. -Because if I didn't hit that ball very hard, it wouldn't-- it would have gone in the water. -Nice one. Pretty hard at the [unk]. -She doesn't have to battle the lie. Unfortunately, she was just yards to being perfect. -So I'm looking at this and we got this creek that runs actually directly parallel where the ball flight that I wanna choose to do. I wasn't looking for perfection, you know. I wanted to make this in. I wanna make someone beat me and not give it away. -[unk], right baby. -I think I probably got 2 or 3 favorable bounces and somehow I ended up on the green. -It's a great shot right there. -Nice shot. -Very nice. -The intensity [unk]. It just grew. It was really insane. I had 166 yards, so a little bit of wind coming into off the left. So, I was in between 5 and 6, but I knew the pin was back so I didn't wanna leave it short. I had a long putt up the hill. -Sit down. -Sit! -Oh. -That's a good shot. -I'm gonna position here where I'm putting for birdie, you know, lag it down there and tap it in for par, it would be fabulous. -What's going on over there? With Nikki? -Pretty straightforward shot here. She has a great opportunity to get it up and down, yeah. -I definitely felt really comfortable over that chip shot because I like doing those kinds of shots. I wasn't scared at this point 'cause I knew that they both had pretty tough putts. -Look at this clutch. -Yeah. -I saw that. -Very nice. -Just felt like, "Okay, game on, let's go." -Okay, something like this is a very big putt after a nice second shot for Dana. -Mine was fairly flat putt. -She was definitely nervous. -[unk]. -Some testers there for par. -Now I'm gonna position here where I'm putting for birdie, you know, lag it down there and tap it in for par, it would be fabulous. -Go baby. -They definitely didn't hit good putts. -I probably have a 10-footer for par after having a 30-foot birdie putt. -That was pretty brutal. -A lot of work left. -Oh. -The door is wide open now for Dana and Nikki. -I actually got a really good read-off of Jo D. She was on the opposite side coming in, so I saw it just broke a little bit side. Just kept, you know, riding just inside. -Most of the time, it comes down to this, putting. -I was shaking over that putt. -Yeah. -Right. -Nice one. -Whoa! -I wanted to slide back to get there, so I would have been really disappointed if it hadn't happened. -So, Dana is now safe. -I am in. I am in. -She's got a demeanor about her and, you know, I'm not so sure it's a confident demeanor but it's definitely a flamboyant demeanor. -Nikki knows what she needs to do here. Sink this putt. I know this kind of pressure right here I think will give her a long mental heading into matches. -I think my jaw dropped to the ground. I was dumbfounded. I could not believe that I missed that opportunity. I was-- I was very disappointed in myself. -We're heading to another playoff hole. -Well, here we are back in the 11th tee. Dana is safe by virtue of her par. -Yes. -2 of you play on-- -Okay. -looking for that spot. -Still looking. -So here we go. Best of luck to both of you. -Good luck, ladies. -I'm going back to do a second sudden death hole and it's Nikki and I are gonna go head-to-head now. And one of the 2 of us is going to be out after this hole. -I'm also a little frustrated with myself. I wanna get mad at myself. I tend to just get a little bit more tense. -There's an opportunity there for you to start to question and doubt everything. -Once I hit off the tee now, the thing I hit off the tee before. -I was so mad at myself for not committing to my first shot. So that this time, I was not gonna make that mistake twice. -I had some serious attitude on my face in that golf swing. I smacked it. I hit that 3-wood far. -She hit a perfect tee shot. -She hit a great drop, fantastic drop over the hazard. I mean that's really gutsy to come off what she just did and just to find the confidence and just [unk]. -Solid [unk]. -Trying to fight the inner demons as best as I could. -I chose the same club just to try to be stubborn as possible and to not let those inner demons know that they were messing with me at all. -It just gets better and better. -I actually hit a worse shot this time than I did the first time which could be totally honestly, I thought it was almost impossible, but it happened. -[unk] we're here with. So, you know, as much as I, you know, might find, you know, Nikki to be entertaining and a whole lot of fun and I want her to stay around, you know, I still wanna beat Nikki. -So, Jo D, 219 to the hole right now. She has some work to do. -I am a little bit farther away this time through than I was on the first time through. So, unfortunately, for me, I couldn't fall back on my trusted 4-iron. -Just almost in this match. I don't care if it's good as I like and I almost ended the show right there. -Nikki, yeah, what an aggressive launch off the tee shot. She now has left herself with 136 yards to the hole. You wanna talk about advantage? -She can really, really make Jo D's life to the hole right now [unk] shot. -I was really fired up, you know, and I said, "well, the most important thing here is I don't wanna be long. I don't wanna be long. I just wanna be pin-high." -Stay. Stay! -She gets a little quick on her shot and ends up pointed, just a little bit to the left. -I'm sure it was just nerves and pressure and stuff like that. -I was a little fired up. -She goes to the right of the green before she had a lot of green to work it on the left. She not only has 9 paces to the hole on the left but she also has that mound to contend with. So, it's gonna be a tough shot. -See if she opens the door for Jo D. -She ends up missing the green and again, you know, I'm thinking, "Okay, you know, you're in sudden death playoff. Don't make a huge mistake. Make them beat you." -Okay, so Jo D is the one who caught a break on this shot. -I've got this wedge shot now, which has not been my strength at a distance that I've actually gotten to hit already today. I don't wanna be quite as aggressive here as I was earlier today. -Get up there. Go! -[unk]. -What do you think about Jo D? She was close to the glass breaking episode on the show and when she came, it just kind of [unk] the rest of the day, but she finds herself right back off. -I'm thinking to myself, "I gotta make it up and down. I have to. I have to make a par. -She has lots to work with. -We talked about it into the shot. [unk]. You only need to figure out how you're gonna play it. -I felt pretty comfortable over this shot, not as comfortable as I did over the first one because there was so much more at stake. -[unk] She was in a position that really puts some pressure on Jo D. -They both lie in 3. -I got about an 18-footer and it's not far off the line that I actually putted earlier. So, I'm pretty confident with my green really here on this one. I feel like I can make this putt. If I could get it there, I could make this putt. -Once again, she's putting pressure on [unk]. -Go, go. -This is absolutely dead on the line. I came up about 3 feet short. -It's another opportunity here. -So that leads Nikki with her, you know, 6- or 7-footer to save par. -I have to make this putt. I have to really focus. I'm not gonna make the putt until I see the putt in my head. -Good putt. -Oh, she knocked it in for birdie. -That is clutch. -Congratulations, Nikki. -Congratulations. -Way to go, girl. Thank you. -Have fun. -It was absolutely shocking. You don't ever expect to lose. When it happens, it catches you off guard. -I'll tell you I'm glad I wasn't in Vegas betting on who'd be off the first show because after that first skills challenge, I would have been out a lot of money. -Ladies, this is the toughest part of the job and that's saying goodbye. It was a real battle all day. Nikki, great up and down on that playoff hole and you're safe and on with the 10 competitors. Jo D, this is where we have to say goodbye. -Yeah. Bye. -We see her started out so strong and then it just kinda deteriorated. You're always kind of going, "Oh, wow." And I think it was a lesson learned for a lot of us. -You know, this was way more difficult than I thought it's gonna be. This is really amazing. I never had my heart beat so many times in my life. -A lot of people were expecting Jo D to win, to tell you the truth. -I know there was mixed emotions with everyone, but this is the game. We're sad to see Jo D go. -It wasn't that everybody was rooting against Nikki, but it was more like we wanted Jo D to stick around. -I was really proud of myself. I could have choked and I didn't. I just kept on fighting, you know, and that putt that I made, I fought. I fought for it tooth and nail. -Ladies, we're down to 10. Jo D, we're sorry to see you go. [unk]. Good luck. -Yes, good luck. -I'm a really fortunate person. I teach golf so-- and I love to teach, so I get to go back home and do what I enjoy doing. -Next time on the Big Break V. -I get to check you in your sweet, sweet cottages. -Whoa! -Whoa! -Oh, my god! -It was Christmas, better than Christmas. -New friendships will be tested. -[unk] it can't be we're thinking in the wrong direction. -And we started laughing, you know, and I just felt like [unk]. -Big Break golf is taken to a whole new level. -Hit it! Hit it! -Wow! -Go! -Oh, I can't-- oh, another lighting bolt. -And the weakest player is called out. -I think she's the weakest link. -We would wanna pick the person we wanna beat. -It happens next time on the Big Break V. -The sudden death playoff, there's a lot more stress I think that I'm ready to deal with, so I'll probably just go back home and teach and be happy.
