-9 women square off. Only 1 will win LPGA exemptions. 9 men battle it out but only 1 will walk away with exemptions to play on the Champions Tour. 18 players coming together on the biggest Big Break ever. They'll play as teams and they'll stand alone. The format will keep changing from a battle of the sexes to a battle for survival. And before it's over 1 big shot could change it all. It's the Big Break VI Trump National. -When I felt like we were going out to a club at night when we climbed on that bus. -I had an idea I mean it was such a pimped up ride you know. We got in there and it's sweet. All the champagne glasses and the lights. I kind of wanted to take that thing at the sunset strip. I mean we're not gonna to the golf course. Let's go out girls, you know. -Good morning. You're about to experience a golf competition like no other. -It was cool. It just gave me like the chills so it's awesome. It's like we're here and he is real. -Trump National Golf Club in Los Angeles is one of the highest rated anywhere in the country and it's considered by many to be the best course in the state of California. We've really gone all out. Sadly for me it's also the most expensive golf course ever built. Now Trump National is the stage for the biggest boldest Big Break ever. We're going to test your stamina. We're going to test your guts. We're going to test your golf game and your golf ability. As a surprise when you think you got things all figured out, I may just intervene and mix things up a little bit. Everyday I've had him you gotta be a little more serious. -Yes. Trump's the serious guy. Maybe a little intimidating. -So enjoy your view along Trump National Drive because the competition begins right now. -One shot can mean you're off, can mean you're safe and you don't know. An elevated tee 30 feet or 40 feet up in the air. -The waterfall in the back. A really hard shot. -It was such an unusual shot. -If you holed one, even you got tough out here but it never will. -The idea that that's gonna be the opening shot was scary. -Right out of the box it was like a shorter wedge shot. Maybe 65 yards. -It was a severe downhill shot. You didn't know what it was for either so that was the other thing. -You didn't know what you were playing for but passed out it was like wow. This is really gonna be fun. -Wow. -Great view. -Here's the official first shot of the Big Break, guys. -3, 2, 1, 0. -I got no idea how far it's gonna play. -As basically get close to the pin challenge. -Well that's a good shot, sweetie. -You bet. -That's long. -I didn't know if it was for immunity or elimination and we knew nothing. -Oh. -Those are the best one. -Oh. -Alright. -That's good. That's the best one. -Okay. -Good shot, Albert. -Better on the grinding. -Wow. -I started to get nervous somewhat okay. Let's just watch your feet going up here. You don't wanna sleep. -I'm just like trying to make sure that my legs didn't collapse on me. -Oh to which juice. -Yes, that's gotta be real close Albert, doesn't it? -And he actually hit it. Oh, it looks like it's going so much further than it actually does. You kind of go stop, stop and go, you know. -You get to the top up there and the green looks completely different than it did, you know standing down below. -Pretty good. -That is something -Oh. -Very close. -I wasn't nervous and all I was thinking was oh my God. I'm about to hit like the first shot on the Big Break. -Go get them, girl. -This is the coolest thing I'm gonna do. -Oh a good shot. -I think it's good. -And we have a winner. -There we go. -Hey. -You know every now and then if I'm on the golf course it'll just kind of come out you know. Good shot you gotta shake a little bit. -Wow. -Look at this group. -By sheer number I think this is the biggest Big Break ever. With 18 of you here and here's another first. Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Big Break VI Trump National. -Thank you. -Hey. -Jeff, way to go. 14 feet 3 inches. You're closest to the hole for the guys. Very nice. Ashley, you're certainly out of the gates early. 7 feet 11 inches. You beat everyone. -Way to go. -I have some good news for the two of you. Put your clubs away. You hit your last shot of the day. You're now safe and on to the next show. -Oh my God. -Oh my Lord. -That was fun. -I was very surprised to win that first immunity challenge. -For you. -Not bad. -I hit 1 shot and I'm so called done for the day. -Well I was shocked and I was extremely happy because the one thing I don't think anyone wants to do is be the first to leave. -For all of you not named Jeff or Ashley, listen closely. You know California is supposed to be kind of a laid back place. Not in this case. I mean we're at Trump National in Los Angeles. Donald J. Trump so you know things are gonna be a little intense. I want you to know in this episode you'll have to read and react, think quickly, make fast decisions, decisions that could mean your survival in the series because here it is. By the end of the day 2 of you are leaving the show, 1 woman and 1 man. So something to think about as we hit our next challenge. -Come up for the challenge. -Yes. I'm feeling pretty good. Yes. Trying to get motivated here. I'm curious to see what the hole looks like and what we actually have to do and I understand we gotta combine accuracy with driving so that's gonna make distance driving so it's gonna make it very interesting. -I feel like especially with women, we're really on target most of the time. So it might be just the question about who's longer and who's gonna be closer to the pin. So maybe Kristy because I think she might be a little bit longer than Sarah. -And I don't really know what we're up for but you know hopefully it'd be you know shot and just get driver in your hand and hopefully I got a little bit of fairway to work with so-- -You're liking the driver. -Yes. I definitely. Yes. I'd rather have driver in my hand on the tee and take my chances from there. -Yes. I think I'll be nervous once I get out there and I think you know I'm just trying to think through my head you know there's a strategy for this challenge I'm sure but we don't know what it is because we haven't been told, not much more and I don't know how all of this is gonna play so I like yes. That's all I'm thinking. That's all I'm not. You know you guys don't give as much. -You know it was kind of an all or nothing kind of shot. -She's got driver. She's gonna try to have to ride up here. -No one is immune for the force of nature you're about to meet next. -Beginning to look like the United Nations around here. Two Australians and a Spaniard out in front for most of the round until this man, Jeff Mitchell. In the last parting of the day comes to the final green needing this putt to also finish 6-under and down it goes giving that young Texan an auspicious start to his first Masters and tying him at the top of the first day leaderboard with Ballesteros and Graham. -The best players that have ever touched the golf club have played golf on that golf course and won that golf tournament and so there's a certain aura about being at the Masters and that's something that I'll never forget. -Gang, it's good to see everybody again and we're gathered here on the first tee of Trump National Los Angeles. I don't know if you noticed but the view is pretty scenic no matter which direction you turn. I mean we got the Pacific Ocean here over our shoulder and down the fairway in Mr. Trump's signature waterfall which surrounds the first green. That's a beautiful layout but don't be fooled by that beauty. This is a very challenging course and one that will put your golf skills to the ultimate test, but if you make it all the way through and you emerge as the champion of Big Break VI, men's champion or women's champion, the rewards are great. We have exemptions for you on the Champions and LPGA Tours. It's the big time. -Now an addition ladies you'll also have your entry fees waived for all the events for the 2007 DuraMed FUTURES Tour schedule. -Wow. -Yes. -Pretty nice. Pretty nice. Guys, we didn't forget about you. You're also gonna have your entry fees waived in events in next year's Heartland Players Seniors Tour. -Now we gotta set you up with some gear as well so for the winners an equipment endorsement contract from Adams Golf. You're gonna get hungry along the way so a thousand-dollar arch card from our friends at the McDonald's LPGA Championship presented by Coca Cola and to make you feel like a captain of industry or business mogul, some private jet time get you where you need to go. -Now that's great. -Courtesy of NetJets. -Now throughout the competition you will earn points when you win Chrysler immunity challenges. The player with the most points in the end will drive away in a brand-new Chrysler Aspen. -So Ashley and Jeff, you're already on your way and let's see who else steps up and earns some points in our next Chrysler immunity challenge. -Okay and this challenge you'll each hit 1 shot. The objective here is to drive the ball as close to the hole as possible. Now there's a hazard in front of the green. Ladies 246 to the water, guys you have 276. The man and woman that drive the ball as close to the hole as possible while keeping it in the fairway or if you're feeling strong, Kelly, maybe, possibly, on the green you'll be safe and on to the next show. -Who's gonna win for the girls? -Kristy. -Kristy? -Bridget. -What do you mean Bridget? -I don't think I'm going for Kristy. -No for Sarah Lynn. -Sarah's she's much about to please you. -Laura. -Bridget. -Bridget. -Well it's hard to tell. I'm not sure what shots are gonna play. It's very interesting. It's a complex shot and complex question really. -Well we wouldn't be-- -Who's gonna win, Kelly? -Not pitch it close to the water. -Alright. Kristy. Let her rip. -It's really a guessing game and I knew how far we had but I didn't realize you know how much of this is gonna roll or not roll. -She's got driver out there. -She's got a driver. She's been trained-- -She's got water right up there. -Look at that. -That's all right there. -They're right on. -That's staying. -That's definitely hard. -I think the strategy of that shot was you know you have 1 shot to do something great. -She took 55? -That's pretty far from here. -Yes. -So that's 20 yards short of the water there. -Yes. -Very nice. -52 yards. Very nice. -Good point. -Very nice. -She's gotta go over that hill? -No. -Don't drop out. -I hit you know a foot behind the ball, come over the top of it. It bounces fully once in the fairway and goes into the rough. -I'm just glad you're given this buzz because I hate to lose more to mind than-- -You know it was kind of an all or nothing kind of shot. One person is gonna win this from pointing laying up. -Great view. -Oh, that's beautiful there. -Good shot there. -Oh yes. I could get addicted to crowds through anytime. -And I'm not a big hitter anyway so leave it on or get up there. Longest hitter. -I should've kicked it left. -That was a great line right there. -That's the shot right there. -Hit it with a little draw. That is a wonder. -62 so Kristy-- -So Kristy still on the-- -Still our leader. -At 52. -I knew if I hit a driver well that I was in the water. I really had to strike 3-wood. It ended up just stopping dead. -I know how far Kristy hits it so when she hit this little punch knockdown roll driver, I knew I can pretty much hit my driver as hard as I wanted. -Cheater, clubbing it all for me. -Hey, I gotta do what I gotta do. -Well, we talked about it before we even drew our balls and Sarah and I, we both said you know she said I hope I hit behind you. I said I'll hit behind you you know and we know each other's standing pretty well. -Good one. -That's gonna be good. Stay in. -It's gotta go. -It could be pretty good. -That's gonna be good. -Oh. -We have a new leader. -What I did notice was in the fairway was hooking right to left but there also was more opening on the left side so you can hit almost a head shot and it could get all the way down and not probably be your best bet. -Look at that. -Good shot. -Right down the middle. -Oh, I think you got me. -Middle right stop at the fairway. -Bridget, I love you but I really didn't think she could hit it as far as I hit it. She doesn't quite have the childbearing hips so I mean really. She needs to put a couple of lbs. on. -Well Sarah a couple of swings today, you take the afternoon off now. -Absolutely. That's the plan. -How do you feel about that? -I'm pretty excited. -Good. -It's time to move on to the guys. Sarah you're safe. We'll see who will join you today. -Sounds good. Thanks. -Got it well. I just started loosening up the old-- crank up the old body here. -Is that everything? -Yes. -Well. -Right there? -I thought you said what you said. -Professionally I've won 104 driving contests, 103 of them with a fade. There's nothing more going on but you tell it, work it, work it now. -Oh. -Very good. -Very good. -I like it. -I had to hit a pretty good driver because it was uphill. -Come on, baby. -And Albert Crews, 1-under par for the day, cross-handed as you can see. -I'm good. -Concrete work. That's what I do for a living basically. I've done it all my life and it had done a lot of thing for me to have kept me fit. I'm not I don't know exercise program or nothing like that. It's just straight out hard and all work and it have kept me in shape and my stamina and thing that this nature been real good for me. -I mean 276 yards, you gotta hit it close to the pond. You know it's not like am I good enough to feather it out there 268. -I like to hook the ball. I wished it went the other way but that's fine. We'll figure something out, just try to hit it solid and see what happens. Get lucky with a bounce or two. I didn't know I may try to just-- I knew it was something you can go around away, I don't know. It's just gotta sit down and how I feel when I get in the box. -I think the only advantage on that particular challenge was that I think that everybody knows that it really was playing a lot longer than what they anticipated was gonna play. -Charlie, start us off. -Perfect. -Good luck, Charlie. -Good luck. -Okay, Charlie. -It's so bad. I hit my shot off the bottom of the club and it was down the right side and it was no hard luck for me. Hard luck was ball missing the clubface. -Alright, Rocky. -Rocky was with us Sundays -Good luck, Rocky. -I'm good. -Well that person. -Oh. -That's very good. -Very right there. -That's in the gap. -Right in the gut there. -Oh. Big kick. -I hit a good shot. I hit it right where I wanna hit it. -49. -49. -Great. 49. -Now the Rock is in front. -He can't believe it. -I didn't get it. -That's short. -Albert. -Let's go, Albert. -Show us how it's done. -Alright. Who's Albert? -He's that guy. -I like this one. You play like it. -Never had a lesson in my life. When I was coming up nobody had definitely any club that I could play with. Now I just took that same grip and start swinging the golf club all right handed. -Albert hit another one. You had your hands on there backwards. -I need to. -Great swing, Albert. -Thank you. -39 yards. -Albert is in front. -Yes. -My boy. -Get down, get down. -Look at that. -I like to be it right there. That's right in the groove. -That was a good one, Gavin. -Go, Gavin. -46 yards. -Another player with a lot of experience said. He's played in 3 British Senior Opens. -Oh, he's crushed it. -Oh definitely. He's gotta take left but that right side runs out. -Good line. Give him a kick to the left. -I was not gonna beat it. -I had to it a pretty good driver because it was uphill. I couldn't kill it. -Oh. -That was a good one. -I thought I hit it a little bit too solid. I thought it was gonna go just a couple of yards too far. As it turned out it was still short of the rough. -Perfect. That's like 30 yards. -Come on, baby. -43 yards. -Oh. -You top that. -40 yards. -Gotta get close twice. -Albert with a little sigh of relief back there. -Alright. He's like everybody's choice. -Alright, Kelly. -Kelly, you better not. -What do you call him, a fox? -Not that I think yes. -Silver Fox. -The Silver Fox. -Silver Fox. -I didn't come up with it. -Professionally I've won 104 driving contests. I had 103 of them with a fade. If you aimed it down the left side of the fairway and it's 40 yards wide you can hit it down the left side and you're 40 yards to spin it into. With you now nearly got 20 yards and the way too side that makes it very narrow. Well definitely more normal but you're telling work it, work it now. -Oh, here's the cut. -Oh. Alright, Al. -Yes. -Pretty good. -Good job, buddy. -Good job, Albert. -Good shot, Albert. -Thank you very much. I appreciate it. -Albert, congratulations. You crossed everybody up. -What can I say, man? That's the way I do it. -Yes. -Well, Albert, relax for the rest of the afternoon. Gentlemen, we have some more challenges ahead. One of you will be safe and on to the next show as well as 1 more of the ladies so get ready. -The heaven be right of golf shot you know be able to do what you need to do with a golf ball. Makes a lot of difference and I knew I had great. You know if you hit it high and the fairway to solve and the ball is not going on but if you put your own trajectory down through that and put a steam behind it and get it where you want it to go. -Great show. -That'll be Albert. -Yes, Albert. -Now you wanna tell me what it feels like to not have to worry about anything else for the rest of the day. You might wanna talk about that. Would you tell me? -We'll just relax and I wanna relax a little bit but like I said you know I wanna be a part of it, you know. I'm here and I wanna do my best right here. -I feel like I'm swinging at it real good. Just hope to continue to get in there and getting there in battle. It's like maybe first and now you relax for the day. -Wow. Is he ever gonna hit different trajectory wedges so that could be anything from low punches to flops. -I'm thinking lob shots, Phil Mickelson style or it's like low bump and runs Seve Ballesteros style or maybe just a random shot that goes in the hole Laura London style. -You never know. I mean-- -So I'm thinking third of the way in the air, two thirds on the grass, something running maybe to a corner of the green. -It's gonna be about 25-yard flop shot. -Yes. -That's what you think? -I think so but it might be. I don't know if it's time for the big wall yet. -And I'm just thinking oh boy it's here. -Oh. -There's a lot at stake right here. You know about high stakes? -I tell you. I know about steaks. -This Big Break challenge has been presented by Chrysler. Chrysler, inspiration comes standard. -The first runner up, Miss South Central, Rachel Mathson, which means Miss Minnesota is Karyn Stordahl, Miss Heart of the Lakes. -Miss America was in Las Vegas and it was broadcast by CMT. -Okay. -And we had so much fun. I just loved it. It was a once in a lifetime experience and challenging and exhausting and competitive, probably a lot like Big Break I can imagine. -We compete in talent, interview. That was 2 combined to be about 60 percent of our total score so those are the 2 most important areas. -Okay. -And then we also compete in physical fitness which is swimsuit. -Okay. -And evening gown. -So we get to the 3rd challenge and it's this wall. You're automatically thinking flop shot. -There is the green wall and I'm just thinking oh boy it's here. -We see the wall and I'm oh. It's been a hole in it. Sometimes I call, we gotta go over a wall and like I think we had an option to go through the wall and look at the hole. -We've reached our next Chrysler immunity challenge and already 2 of you from the women's side, 2 of you from the men's side are safe and on to the next show. Albert, Jeff, congratulations. Same to you Sarah and Ashley. Alright. 2 more people are gonna play their way on to the next show, both on the men's and women's side and we put up some wall so looks like we get a flop shot waiting for you. -Well, once again you'll each hit 1 shot but you have a choice here. You can go over the wall or you can take a more direct route and go through the wall. The man and the woman with the shortest distance will be safe and on to the next show. -Alright. -On 3. -I really felt like if I could ring get through that hole I had a good chance to win because I mean it was not easy. -I thought it was almost impossible to go over that wall, felt like the only real way right was that through that hole. -Oh. -Sit and sit. -That's a lot harder than it looks. -You're going through? -I'm gonna either go through or I'm gonna hit the wall. -Alright. It sounds like a good plan. -I was thinking definitely go through the wall because I didn't think I can get it over the wall and stop it close to the hole. -Way that boy. -Alright. -That's great. -Pretty. -That's very nice. -Mighty bump. -He sure did. He pinched it very nicely. -Alright, Kelly. -But the last 2 guys had said they were gonna go over. -I didn't respect the wall because to me my favorite shot is that Phil Mickelson shot. I had that before Phil had it. It's very Phil through this. -Yes. I'd be honest with you. I didn't mind if they hit the wall so again you're really not rooting against them but you weren't gonna be too upset if they hit the wall. -The shot is probably not that hard but considering everything else it makes it hard and I thought I would go over because nobody else had gone over. -Damn, I thought that made it. -Denny. -Well, Denny, way to go. -Very nice. -Very good, buddy. -Alright, Denny. Let's see you to the next show. -Alright. Let's make room for the ladies. -Yes. -Alright. Come on there. You can do it. -I just wanna let you know like-- -Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Donald Trump. -Then Donald Trump introduces this whole twist. -Stephanie, why don't you tell them about the teams? -I would love to, Mr. Trump. -When I was 11, I got diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and it was a struggle for a while. I ended up being pretty much in the bed for about 11-1/2 months. I didn't really gotta do a whole lot. Joint pains especially in the main joints, knees, elbows, wrists, ankles, bothered me every day and I mean it's a struggle to get going especially on the cold and rainy days but like I said it's become part of every day of my life and I know I gotta go through it if I wanna play golf. -This is it, gang. Last chance for immunity. Be on to the next show. -Bridget, start us off. -The hole isn't like that hard. I mean it's just a little bump right through it. -Close. -So I did move it up from the tee marker. It's just so I could take my 60-degree wedge and just hit more of a routine chip shot. -Nicely done. -Oh. -She goes and holes out. I mean that is an awesome shot, straight through the wall, 1 bounce maybe 2 feet from the hole up and down in the hole. -And I knew I was going to hole out the whole time. -It was fun to see Kristy put it in. I mean what a great shot, but then it made it hard for I think the rest of us going afterwards. It might have been a little bit easier to go before her. -I felt pretty good about the shot. It's just you know it wasn't as good as Kristy's. -Good shot, Bri. -I thought I could do it. Honestly, I really thought I could do it. -Made up my mind. I'm definitely just going through it. -Because no one before me have gotten over it with a flop shot. I wanted to make it on. I wanna feel good and I wanna know that I can execute a shot that I intended to. -You got it over. -That's all I cared about. Got it over. -And just like that. Alright. So now we have 6 immune and we're gonna move on to our next order of business. Well, we are gathered on the 10th green at Trump National Los Angeles and what an amazing backdrop we have here and just to recap the show now, 6 of you are immune. You played your way on to the next show. A third of the field now has moved on and Kristy in spectacular fashion I might add. For the rest at this point I wanna tell you no one is immune to the force of nature you're about to meet next. He is our host. He is an international business legend, the star of a hit television series and he plays to a 5-handicap, although the club pro say it's more like a 2 these days, the one and only, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Donald Trump. -Like oh, this is unreal, you know. That's Donald Trump. -Donald Trump is Donald Trump, you know. I mean he's a very impressive man. -It was surreal to see him driving in and walking up and talking to all of us. -I just wanna congratulate you for having attained this great status because you have no losers here. You only have winners. You're great players and I just wanna congratulate you. -Thank you. -Okay? -Thanks. -Congratulations. -It was awesome. You just really felt like the whole thing was starting you know wow. Like this is real and he's here. It was awesome. -But I wanna add that when this is all over 1 of you will be traveling by private jet to New York City. There at my headquarters I'll hand that man or woman a really big check and the keys to a brand-new Chrysler Aspen. -If you didn't wanna win this thing going into it you do now. -The guys are gonna fight for the Champions Tour exemptions. The women are gonna fight for the LPGA Tour exemptions. And in addition to that and now we find out that one of us is gonna win these prizes from Trump. -Not bad and to think you're doing this by playing golf. It's fun. -You know this is the big check, let me think. What does he mean? -But I just wanna congratulate you and it's a great honor to have you at Trump National. -Thank you. -Thank you very much. -Well, Donald I wanna tell you that 6 of these players are already up to the challenge. They played their way on to the next show so they've made quite a leap now in what they're trying to accomplish. -Then Donald Trump introduces this whole twist. -Stephanie, why don't you tell them about the teams? -I would love to, Mr. Trump. Here's the twist. The 6 of you that are safe. -Stephanie and Mr. Trump told us that the 3 guys and 3 girls who got immunity were gonna get to pick the partners for the next day. -Your selection will make them safe giving them immunity. -We have to pick a partner. Partner is gonna be immune and the other 6 have to go play it off. -That was crazy to hear. I mean I'm just like my jaw has probably dropped. It was like wow. -Now for the 12 of you not yet safe and on to the next show we're gonna send you back to the practice area and if you've ever try to impress somebody on the range, well this is the time to do it, alright? -The 6 of us who don't get picked are going straight to the elimination challenge so we really, really, really want to get picked. -There's a lot at stake right here, a lot at stake. You know about high stakes? -I tell you. I know about steaks. This is what you're saying. You're playing my favorite game at my favorite golf course so just have a good time and may the best person win. -Thank you very much. Alright. -Alright, guys. -Off we go. -Let's do it. -I'm supposed to leap but I can't. They're too many. I wanna see how good they are. -I think I know what I can see what I see and I'm right tonight. -I'm from the east coast of Canada from New Brunswick, Fredericton. It's tiny but I mean for a tiny town we've got 5 of 6 golf courses you know and they open 3 to 4 months a year. We worked hard for those 4 months that we had you know. We're able to play golf and you'll learn to love it so much because you only had 4 months of it, so you wanna be out there every day and you wanna play 36 holes so in a way it's a benefit but it's just the lack of opportunity and you know you don't necessarily get recruited very often when you're from that part of the world. -I'll tell you if I was one of you guys I'd pick Rachel just because she can play. -She can play. -She can definitely play. -And I don't know what we're doing. -Yes. -Bridget is steady. -Yes. -Bridget, at whatever you're doing, Bridget is not gonna support us 75 but depending on-- -Bri's good. -Yes I played with her in Orlando and she shot 35 from a back 9. -See I don't-- -I don't know what the thing is and she's like-- -That's testimony and it was their saying she's hitting 3-wood off almost every hole. She's just you gotta hit it in the fairway and-- -Yes but she's if it's a challenge where you have to get something, she's like-- -She's going out there and I knew a lot and I don't know her games enough. -This is hard. -Yes. -Do you guys have any suggestions? -Damn these people. -I think I know what I'm gonna do. -The picking, that was a shock and a half. -You had the power giving immunity to another player. -And then the other people that were not picked are going to an elimination challenge. -My heart sank because I was thinking well I don't think I'm gonna be picked by these guys. -She said she's not a standout. You know maybe a popularity contest or something like that. -Well, I'm very impressed by the caliber of golfer that I'm watching out there and you all have decisions to make. My whole life has been 1 big decision so walk the line and check it out and make your decision. -Alright. -I hope it's a good one. -Thanks. -Partners are very important, you know that right? -Yes. -Especially in golf, Jeff. -I don't know he stopped. -Jeff stopped? -I was having a real tough time because I was really isolating between emotion and practicality. -Kelly was actually when I found out my first thought was I'm gonna go with Kelly. -Kelly is over here flexing his muscles hoping one of the girls will pick him already. -I started thinking about it and he kind of scared me a little bit with how unorthodox he can be at times. -Never spill a tray of drinks, take your tray of drinks from here and pass it over there without spilling it. No spilling of the drinks. -So I wanted to kind of go with someone with on my same page as you know playing golf. -Atta girl. -Wise choice. You've chosen wisely. I gotta learn that wiggle. -There's an intangible. You know after recruiting for 14 years there are certain things that you see and they don't really have to make a tremendous amount of sense but you see them and you recognize them and you say you know this is a good choice. -My partner. -And it doesn't always make sense but you know I think it will prove itself out. -Relief, yes. Plus it come with us going to. It's you know and when he picks me you know it's an upper. -Let me take a look and see what I see that I'm liking tonight. I looked at a lot of things away from the golf course. All those you know the golf is gonna be good but your personality, the intelligence, the care about yourself goes a long way and how you wanna react with the other player. -I wanted to pick Charlie because I really love Charlie. Rocky the Rockett from the Carolinas. -Your man. -That's right. -Yes. -Rock is pretty good? He's pretty good? -I think you know him a little bit. -Shot 59. He's pretty good. -Laura, would you like to be on my team? -I knew you were my lucky charm. -Alright. -Thank you. -Alright. -Yes. -That's for you. -Work is always in. Thank you. -Yes. -Well I think Albert and Laura are really an adorable team if you wanna know the people. What do I know? -I gotta tell you. -I did bet a thousand bucks she'd picked me. -Oh really? -Yes. -It was basically between 2 people and you know I think I picked the right guy. -Thank you. -I guess you did too. -So Denny it's your turn. Are you about ready? -I'm ready. -Who I don't pick? I hope they don't get upset at me because I didn't pick them. You know we're just gonna try to pick the best partner that might fit together. -It made it more difficult for me to go last and to give them zero hope that they were gonna skip out elimination that day. -Hello girl. -Yes. -I really love you. Thank you. -I owe you. -I'm like you know cannot picked in dodge ball or something. Like nobody want me as a partner. -Charlie, will you be my partner? -I'd love to be your partner. I can't imagine why you picked me. Thanks. Geez. I don't know Kristy but I really am in love with her now as far as the father-daughter deal could go. I mean she's going to the mall with me later but you know I was shocked when she picked me. -I love you first. -Did Kelly get picked? -It's kind of tough not getting picked just because it's kind of like confidence deflator. -While I've been watching you hit balls and they could've made a mistake you're really, really good players and the one thing I have learned about golf is you never know and the other thing I know about life is that you're probably only gonna be tougher so I just wish you a lot of luck, come out fighting. Again a group is going to be very, very hard and I'm gonna be watching. -Thank you. -Enjoy it. Thanks. Good luck now. -Thank you. -Good luck. -Thank you, sir. -Good luck. -Solid shots come from the solid thoughts. Just think and thinking it's thinking shots. -How you play in this particular challenge will go a long way in determining who your partner will be. -You'd had a little bit of rejection. -Thought well I deserve a better fate but you know your fate is in your own hands. -I'm trying to you know be as positive as I can about this whole thing about not getting picked, just being through an elimination challenge and persevering would definitely be a confidence booster. -Golf is a game of thoughts. Solid shots come from solid thoughts. Just think of thinking get thinking shots. -Competing for Miss America competing on stage for Miss Minnesota and doing all the performing that I have it helps kept my nervous energy down and controllable. -Actually I'm pretty good. I'm trying to figure out a way to cheat. -That will do from the ups that are in there. -When you hit the shots you hit the shots and if you don't, you're gone. This is just playing for me right now, frustrating but you know hopefully you do okay and make a more regret not picking you. -Well, here we are on the 6th hole of the Trump National Los Angeles and we have reached our very first elimination challenge of Big Break VI. Now the 6 of you with clubs in hand were not picked for immunity but our advice to you is get over it. Right now you need to get your mind right because the task at hand is survival on to the next show. And what we have for you here is a short game challenge. You'll be hitting from 3 different locations into that circle around the pin. -Now obviously the goal here is to hit it inside the circle in as few attempts as possible. On the first 2 locations if for some reason you don't hit it within 4 attempts your score will be a 5. But in the final location there is no limit so you hit it until you make it inside the circle. Now the man and woman with the highest total in the end will be eliminated from Big Break VI. -So we're playing for a lot here. You're not only trying to get on to the next show but how you play in this particular challenge will go a long way in determining who your partner will be for our next show so that's something to keep in mind as well. -Gotcha. -Now we're gonna start from our first location and Gavin. -I'm up. -By random draw you'll lead us out. -Alright. -My short game is really good only because I've missed so many greens. I get lots of practice at it. -Oh I thought I was gonna do well. When I saw how everything was set up, I thought well I got a great chance. -I was smiling inside. I mean I was very happy. Inwardly I was very confident in my skills. -He's got it going. Oh. -I've ended over the back of the green so I decided I'd go back and take a 52-degree gap wedge and just leave it back in my stance so I'd put a little bit more spin on it. -Good shot. -Very nice. -Great job. -Good adjustment there, Gav. -That's good. That should do it. -Yes. Get there. -Oh. Gosh. Wow. -You're treating that like you're playing on the golf course and the thing that you don't wanna do is hit it past the hole and have a downhill putt. -For the 2nd shot I tried to hit it a little bit harder, played it a little farther back and knocking down a little harder. -Get up. -Go. -No it's not going. -Oh gosh. -My 3rd shot I just made sure that I got it in the circle. -That's good. -That's it. -Sit. -Sit. -That should do it. -Alright, Sid. -Alright, Sid. -Kelly can really make a move here right now. -Absolutely. -That we always talk about major challenges, make it but you don't wait. -Oh gosh. The last couple of months all I practiced is my short game. I go to a practice area and choose a shot whatever it is and instead of trying to holed 5 and you stayed there until you holed 5. What a discipline. You're hungry, you're thirsty, whatever. You just stay there and there's no-- you know dinner can wait. -Spin. -That's good. -That'll do it. -Good job, Kelly. -Very nice, Kelly. -Way to go. -Off we go. -This shot, I was very confident. I can do this right away. The first shot a simple pitch. I have been having trouble with. -All I know is I gotta get in the circle at 1 shot. -At the 1st of 3 short game locations in the elimination challenge, Kelly started off strong while Sid struggled. The women are now set to play at the 1st location. Karyn will be first to hit. The man and woman who record the highest score for all 3 locations combined will be eliminated. -Kind of a unique competitor in this competition, Miss Minnesota and she's showing some talent with the golf clubs well. -This shot I was very confident. I can do this right away. It was kind of a long bump and run shot and that's one of my favorite shots to hit. -Go. -Go. -Alright baby. -Go. -Oh. -Oh, you've done it. -Alright. -She goes in post 1. I don't know you don't what Annie's gonna do. All I know that is I gotta go in the circle in 1 shot. -I think she did it as well. -Pretty good. -How about this? -Stop. Sit down. Oh. Another line. -Making it your manner, as always. -Wow. -Ladies in great short game. -Short game which I was comfortable with. I really was although there was the 1st shot. A simple pitch I've been having trouble with. -Run it out. Run it out. -It wasn't a terrible shot by any means but it was short. You kind of lose your train of thought when you're in that situation, get a little bit out of your routine. I can just feel my arms shaking and got nervous and grip the club tight. -Oh. Now, now. See if she could-- out to get tough. -In my head I'm just thinking stop being stupid, just hit the shot. It's a simple shot. You know how to do it. -Sit. -Good. -Alright. Okay. -Alright, Annie. -We're at our 2nd location. We thought we'd give it a little US Open left to deal with. So adjust your lie accordingly. -The ladies will lead us off and Karyn you will lead us out. -When Annie took a few more strokes to make it in the circle I was thinking alright. I have a little bit of room to breathe. -I think she did it. -Go hard. Go. -Sit, sit. -I wasn't wanting to make more than 2 shots on this particular challenge but that's okay. I can do it again. -Go hard. -I kept doing my best to try to shake it off and not think about the last shot that I made but I just refocused, visualized the shot that I wanted to make and focus on my target. -I was really hopeful it came very close. -Stay. -And it just happened to roll outside the line so I hit a 5. -The stance was really awkward. I had to choke down really, really far. I used my 60-degree wedge and I thought it was a decent shot. -Go, go. -But I thought it wouldn't release a little bit more. I took that information to my 2n shot and knocked them in. -Yes. -Yes. -Great. -Thank you. -Annie can get back in it if she makes this 1st one. -The door is open so it's just suck it up basically. Get over the nerves, get over everything. -Nice shot. -After showing them that 1st one, you don't wanna see you wanna prove yourself but you do. -It was just on a weird angle and it was really deep gnarly grass. There wasn't to be placing the tee. -Skate. Skate. -Go. -A little high on the clubface right here. It went high on the clubface came off dead and came up short. So then I leaned from the shaft and stood up a little bit taller and hit the next one long. I'm like wow and I got back in a better posture. Here we go. -Yes. -With 3 shots. That's pretty unacceptable really. -Pick a mark yet. Pick it up. -Pick it up big-- -Grab that quick. -I don't know who came up with that idea of getting that shot from there but it was-- not only it was a side hill, it was side hill downhill and the ball was above your feet. -Yes. -Yes. -Stay there. Thank you. -Come on. -I thought when I hit it that it would jump a little coming out of there and it came out real solid. -God darn. -It's a tough lie. -That is a tough lie. -It wasn't like you hit like 4 times and it's like okay, we're gonna give you a 5. You're gonna keep hitting until you get in the circle and who knows how many tries that might be. -Okay. -Through 2 locations of the elimination challenge Karyn finds herself in last place. On the men's side Sid is in a similar position trailing Gavin by 3 and Kelly by 2. -This is it our final elimination challenge location, standing here on the bunker and there are a couple of things of note to remind you about. One, there is no limit of 5 shots here. It's unlimited. You swing and swing and swing until you find that circle. Two, it just so happens by virtue of the scores that Gavin and Kelly, you can shut sit out without him ever getting an attempt and the same is true on the other side as Bri and Annie. You can do the same to Karyn. So the men are gonna go first in this round. -Gavin, you have the honors. If you to hit inside the circle in 3 or less attempts, you're safe and on to the next show. -Alright. Let's do it. -This shot is very difficult to start with. You keep hitting it until you get it inside the circle. You're thinking well if somebody has a misfortune I'm right back in. -Just stay in shut. I mean they're telling you. -Some people are really good. -Yes. Leaving on it. Yes. -I started feeling pretty good after I saw his first bunker shot. -Go. -Go in. -Nice shot. -Get in. -Alright. -You're in there. -I came here to win this thing. I was not gonna be eliminated on day 1. It's just not gonna happen. -Kelly can end this thing right now. -You know my old coach, Moe Norman, said to me, Gav, miss it quick. Golf is a game of misses. Nobody makes every shot. This is a game of misses. You miss this as close as you can and go on to the next shot. -There it is. -That's good. -There it is. -Oh my gosh. -Yes. Sorry, Sid. -Oh you don't wanna be the first person off of Big Break. -Well, Sid-- Somebody had to go. -Yes. Short and sweet. Yes. But I had a great time. -Did you have a good time? -I had a great time. -It's hard to describe. It's such a sinking feeling when you know that you've been eliminated. It's just for that second and you know that the Big Break for you is over. I wanna still try to pursue different avenues to get in the championship event. This would've been special. I just wished it lasted a little bit longer. -I was still nervous but I was so comfortable over that shot and you know you have a perfect lie and a perfect sand. You said I'm comfortable over the shot. I mean what are you doing? -Complete contestant bios, exclusive video and Big Break merchandise are available online at the GolfChannel.com. -Through 2 locations of the elimination challenge, Karyn is on the hot seat. She'll need either Bri or Annie to struggle if she is to have a chance to stave off elimination. -Well, ladies you've witnessed your first elimination. Now it's your turn. Bri, you'll start us off. Good luck. -Sid didn't even have a chance to make it in. I was thinking the same thing might happen to me. -You've got to keep hitting until you got in the circle so it wasn't like you get like 4 shots and it's like okay. We're gonna give you a 5. You're gonna keep hitting until you hit in the circle and who knows how many shots that might be. -Get out wide. -I wasn't freaking out at that point. There was no reason to be tentative at that shot. I mean I just needed to get it out of the bunker and just let it roll towards the pin. -Go. -She's got a chance though. -Oh. -I saw that hey it's not over. I had a chance. -Now she's gonna stop counting in the head. -Exactly. -For the next on 5. -You know exactly. -You know you just-- -Laura brings the girls so fast. -I'm thinking you really need to calm down to refocus and just get going over this next shot. I was like Bri, let's not blow this. This is your huge opportunity. This is you know your Big Break and you gotta get this going. -There it is. -Spin, sit. Are you kidding? -Yes. -Well done. -Great putt. -Thank you. Eventually, right? -I was like you just opened a door for anybody to go out and hole out a shot to beat you and you know that's it. You just-- you kind of beat yourself. -Okay, Annie. 2 or less attempts you're in. -I was like alright. This is my thing. I'm comfortable out of bunkers and especially these ones there. I mean they're beautiful. I grabbed a sand wedge instead of a lob wedge just to get the distance on it because it seemed like the wind was in the face a little bit and it would've stopped. -There it is. -Sit. -Oh. -This could be close. -I hit the 1st shot and thought it was in. -One shot. -Oh. -Oh. -She should've just tried to regroup instead of just going after and hitting it. -Run it. She's gonna run it. -Go. -The short end. I can't believe it. -This is the one shot today that I would've thought that I could beat anyone at. -I was still nervous but I was so comfortable over that shot and you know you have a perfect lie and it's perfect sand. It's a tough bunker shot, yes but at the same time you know perfect conditions. -Spin, spin. -I'm more angry at myself to be honest with you because you know like I said I'm comfortable over the shot and what are you doing. -I love to switch clubs. -I switched clubs, got my lob wedge out. -There we go. -There you go, Annie. -Bri, you're safe and on to the next show. -Thank you. I was very relieved. -Karyn now you're in the driver seat. -Let's go 1 shot. I wanna stay in. I wanna stay plane. This is my goal. I'm ready to go. -2nd shot I'm thinking okay. I can still do this. This is very feasible. Let's go. Just wanted to add a little bit more umph to it to get it out, to get it on the green and just let it roll through the hole. -I was just angry. I was really over myself. I left that in someone else's hands and that is the last thing I wanted to do. -I didn't even get it close. It was basically the same shot that I made on my first try. -Do or die on this shot. She's gotta make it to tie. -This is for a playoff. -I just thought okay. Just hit a natural shot. Be confident and swing through this. -That's it. -I don't see you get in there but. -Club selections. Ooops. -I'm lucky for someone of her caliber to miss 3 shots like that, it's lucky on my part. -I guess all you can ask for is a chance in a situation like that, an opportunity. -I did. -Well, it was a pleasure having you here. You definitely brought a lot of sunshine to our group. -Thanks. -We're sorry to see you leave so early. -Thank you. It was a blessing to be here. The feat is a big part of my life. I felt that God opened a door for me to be here. I really believed that he's gonna help me get a clear vision of where to go next in my life. I'll figure out what I wanna do whether it is to pursue professional golf or whether it's to pursue a different career but I'm still within the golfing streak because I love this game. -Well, congratulations to all of you but before we get you to safe city and on to the next show we have 1 little order of business to take care of. By virtue of your low scores Kelly and Gavin at 5, the 2 of you will be involved in a 1-shot playoff closest to the pin for the right to pick their partner for the next show. -That's good. -That's good. -Good shot, pal. -Thank you. -Still a good right. -Stay there. -Good shot. -Thank you. -Alright. -Good shot, Kelly. -Looking great. -Keep right hard. -What? -Keep real hard right. -Alright. -Who's it gonna be? -Well, let's see. -You wanna coin? -I don't need a coin so let's see if we can do this right. -Annie, would you be my partner? -I'd love to. -Both are really great players and also I don't care who I'm paired up with. You know I'm just thankful to be you know there for the following day. -One thing all of you can walk away with is the experience of handling the pressure of the elimination challenge. -Absolutely. -Kind of. -If you haven't been here you don't wanna know what it's like. -Yes. -And I'm sure none of you wanna return. -Absolutely not. -Next time on the Big Break VI Trump National, the competitors must rely on their partners for better or worse. -I don't wanna get in your face, you don't wanna get in my face. -She was kind of like saying, what are you thinking, what are we doing. More like a coach. -Well I got it playing last month, from Rocky. -Oh crap. -I was mad. -Partner, I am so sorry. -You're saying you're sorry? -Step up over the ball and I felt you know my knee is shaking. -Go. -The teams must contend with another obstacle in their path as elimination looms for 2 more competitors. 16 competitors battle as teams of 2 next time on the Big Break VI Trump National. -You're getting a little bit more comfortable things and then you see that you're eliminated. You're knocked out. You just--- that's hard. I hate it. -I wanna thank God for the opportunity that he's given me just to be here. Even though it was short-lived it was amazing to be a part of this.
