-Hi, and welcome to this GolfChannel.com Extra. I'm Win McMurry joined by Jason Sobel and we had an exciting finish at Riviera this weekend. Jason, three-man playoff, quite a fun tournament. It's always beautiful to watch there at Riviera. So what are the 3 things that you learned from the tournament this year? -Well, the first thing, Win, is that it takes guts to win these tournaments and maybe we knew that already, but 2 major champions on the final hole of regulation, a very tough hole, one that only had yielded a few birdies during the day, making big putts to force a playoff and then Bill Haas, the guy who won the FedEx Cup last year, making a huge 43-foot putt on the second hole of the playoff to continue on it. That just shows me that these guys have what it takes to win these big events. That's what separates the really good players, the guys who come through in the clutch from the guys who can't. The second thing I learned is that Sergio Garcia can putt. And we didn't know this at this time last year. He was a very good ball striker, always has been tee the green, but he showed once again with the 7-under 64 on Sunday that he can roll the rock, and that's gonna prove very good for him going through this entire season. The third thing is that Riviera is a fantastic course. I think we knew this already, but 7-under, winning the tournament, guys going up, guys going down, making birdies, making bogeys, I thought it was a fantastic venue, really as it is every year though. -Yes, it is. All right. So does the Bill Haas have the game to win a major championship? -I think he does. I think Bill Haas has now proven that when the chips are down, when the pressure is on, whatever kind of cliche you wanna use, Bill Haas can come through in the clutch. He's just that good. He's a very good ball striker. He would get that swing and that is a swing that holds up under pressure, and with that belly putter, he seems to make more than he misses. So I think Bill Haas has a very bright major championship future ahead of him. -All right. Well, how about Riviera Country Club, does it? -You know, it's a great question. Yes and no. I think that Riviera can host another major championship, the last one hosted was 1995, the PGA championship. That said, can it just stand alone also? Can't we have some great courses that only host annual PGA Tour events? You know, I understand having to go to some of these tournaments where they host a regular event in February and then say a US Open or a PGA Championship later in the year and the course looks different. It plays differently, but sometimes it's just okay to have one tournament there a year. It doesn't necessarily have to host a major to be a great course like it is right now. -That certainly is a great one. All right. Thanks so much, Jason. Thank you for joining us right here on GolfChannel.com.
