-This week the PGA Tour goes to Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open. Our first time of the year, we're taking this outside to give this tip because we're talking about driving and at Torrey Pines, you've got to drive this ball straight, both the north and the south courses where 2 of the most challenging courses on the PGA Tour last year to find the fairway. You've got to drive it straight. So, quick tip, in order to drive it straight, you've got to make sure that club face is square, very simple drill. What you're gonna do is you're gonna take a tee and you're gonna place the tee right behind the ball that's perpendicular to the target line. What I want you to imagine is when you bring this club back to impact that that club face is exactly parallel to that that tee. So, you're gonna be imagining what that face looks like and what that tee looks like and all I want you to do is when you come back to this, I want that club face to look just like the tee, and when you do that what you're gonna find is that golf ball is gonna go very, very straight. You'll find plenty of fairways and you lower your score. Alright Martin, we're outside, but I know you're inside, what have you got. -Thanks Michael. As important to driving accuracy at Torrey Pines is driving distance like 2011 champion Bubba Watson led the field. Now, we all want to figure out a bit far, and there're a couple of things you can do. One is got to go faster. There's no doubt about it. So, good thing to do is just turn the club upside down, swish it back and forth, and see if you can increase the pitch of that swish. This should be low level. This should be high level. You've got to make it go faster. So, doing that some training would be good. Mechanically, there is no question if you hit off the ball. You're going to hit it far down the drive and now you hit down. Now, that's mainly a set thing. To get yourself setup, get yourself tilted little bit behind it, have the feeling that you're almost giving that ball so that a right-handed upper cut. So, get behind it, set behind it, tee it high to let it fly, hit up with some speed. You might not quite be Bubba Watson, but you should get a bit more than you've been getting. Thanks for joining us on golfchannel.com for the best in golf instruction. The drills Mike and I have shared is sure to make you on the pros at the Farmers Insurance Open better at driving the golf ball.
