-Off to the Middle East for first round highlights of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. And, we're going to waste no time. We're going to show you the shot of the day right out of the game. At the par of 3, 12th, 193 yards, Sergio Garcia with his 7-iron and this shot by El Niño with a perfect score. An ace for Garcia. Part of an opening round of 100 par of 71 and perhaps surprisingly the first hole-in-one in his European Tour career. A lot of eyes on world number one Luke Donald. This for birdie at the first. Donald gets it to go. He too opened up with a round of 1-under par at 71. A lot of eyes around him and his playing competitor as well. Tiger Woods for birdie at the 11th. Tiger had two birdies on the day. This was one of them. Part of the bogey-free 2-under par in a round of 70 for Tiger Woods. How about Robert Karlsson? He ranked 27th in the world. This for birdie at the fourth. And, Karlsson gets it to go. So, he would move to 3-under par. And after a par at the 5th, Karlsson at the 6th for yet another birdie. Oh, the putter was rolling on day number one for Robert Karlsson. He would open up with a round of 5-under par of 67. The third member of that marky group and along with Woods and Donald was this young man, Rory McIlroy. After a birdie at 11th, he would back it up with another at 12th. So, McIlroy out of the gates surely at 2-under through his first three holes as he teed off on the back nine. Then, at the 13th, his second to the short par of 4. A wonderful approach there by McIlroy. So, he would move to 3-under par. He would drop one on the outward nine so he'd make a turn in 34. He'll pick them up in the second. His third in the par of 5. He's still 2-under par at this point but not for long. Wonderfully judged out at the rough. That short one would lead to yet another birdie for McIlroy. He would move to 3-under par. And then when we pick him up at the 8th, he is 4-under. This his four shot at the par of 5, 8th. Oh, and of course perfection for McIlroy. He shoot 5-under 67 as well and caught up with Tim Barter. -Rory, 5-under par on your first competitive round of the year. How do you feel about the way you play today? -It was a good score. You know, 67 is a great way to-- to start 2012. I didn't-- I didn't feel like I drove the ball particularly well. I didn't hit it in the fairway enough. So, it's something I got to really work on this afternoon. I want to try, you know, to hit the ball in the fairway but more tomorrow and-- and for the next three days. But, you know, a 5-under start is-- is very nice and I felt like I-- I scored really well right there. -McIlroy, Donald and Woods will be in our broadcast window from start to finish on Friday morning in the second round action of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. You can see it all on Friday morning, 3 a.m. right here on Golf Channel.
