Speaker 1: Sophie Gustafson is a 5 time winner on the LPGA Tour. She's been player of the year in Europe and a picture on the European Soul Hyme Cup Team making 8 appearances. But due to a speech impediment, we've heard very little from her over the years. Rich Lerner has the story on how Sophie is trying to open up. Speaker 2: Breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe. Speaker 1: Golf suits Sophie Gustafson. A solitary game the conversations mostly within. Some simple, others angry. But conversations nonetheless without hesitation without anyone listening. Eventually though, Sophie long to be heard and in spite of her struggle with stuttering. She told Golf Channel producers that she wanted to talk about an event that she's always looked the Soul Hyme Cup. After nearly 20 years as a professional at last a lengthy unfiltered interview. So early in the week in Ireland, Sophie has to be alone in a room, she would be less self conscious that way. The camera roll with no camera man and then Sophie spoke. Speaker 2: I'm Sophie Hank, (??). this is gonna be my 8th Soul Hyme. But it's my 1st TV interview. The reason for that is because I'm a much better golfer than I am a speaker. I have a (??) stuttering problem and during regular TV interviews for me has been pretty much impossible. But I wanted to go a little bit out of my comfort zone this year and just see if I was able to... could do it. So if you bear with me, you know find you know, find out a little bit more about me. The 1st few shot is like nothing else. It is quite extraordinary. You can't describe it and anybody who says that they are not nervous, they're lying. I've had the opportunity to hit the 1st tee shot on the few occasions. One occasion I remember was in 2005. We had this relatively tight par 4. I was just praying, praying that I would make some sort of cont... I was just praying I would make some sort of contact with the ball. I was just praying that I would make some sort of contact with the ball. What makes Soul Hyme Cup great I would say it's the passion that's been shown from both the players and the spectators. It is special to represent your country and your continent and you're the best that they have and you're playing for the pride of your people. Speaker 1: The Soul Hyme Cup on most account was one of the most memorable ever. With all of the daring shots and the raw emotion. But it was memorable as well for Sophie's choice a full and great choice it was. We should point out that portion of Sophie's interview were indeed edited for timing. Gustafson says her battle with stuttering is a work in progress. Agreeing to do this interview was a large step forward.
