-Hi. I'm Michael Breed, host of the Golf Fix. You're sending the emails and we're reading the emails. This email comes to us from Peter Rodriguez and he is in San Juan, Puerto Rico. My downswing at times lacks the energy to hit the ball farther. I have been told that my left lead arm needs to be as straight as possible when striking the ball. I am 60 and I've seen older folks hitting the ball much farther. Any drills? Yes, Peter. Absolutely and if your left lead arm isn't straight, that means that your body isn't moving at all, so what you've got going on is you got a swing that's all arms going like this and then you're going across like this so you're just waving your arms back and through across your body like this and the ball is not gonna go anywhere. It's just like throwing a ball. When I stand up here and I throw this ball I'm not gonna throw the ball into the net without moving my body so I would never go like this. It's clumsy and the ball is not gonna go very far. What I wanna do is I wanna rotate my body like this and then throw the ball that way. That's gonna allow my arm to have some extension and the ball is gonna go very far because I'm gonna have a chance to move my arm faster. Here, I can't move it very fast. The club head is no different. We want the body to control the club and the body has to rotate so what I want you to do is this. I want you to take your left foot, okay, because you're a right-handed player. I want you to take your left foot and I want you to just rotate it open a little bit and then I want you to feel like you're gonna take your belt buckle and spin your belt buckle so that it's facing the target like that and when I spin my belt buckle and face the target like that, now all of a sudden my arms are gonna have some length to them, alright? This is gonna look like this so that left foot is out like that, rotate and now my arms have a real length of going through that shot and I know that that's gonna help you with your game. What also is gonna help you with your game, well is more tips and information and I can give to you and all you have to do is go to golfchannel.com/the-golf-fix and they're waiting for you. It's all the information that's gonna help you play better golf. And another thing you can do is you can watch us every Monday night, 7 and 10 pm Eastern. It's called the Golf Fix. I'm Michael Breed and we're here to help you play better golf.
