-Hi, I'm Michael Breed, host of the Golf Fix. Taking questions, Facebook questions for that matter. And this one comes to us from Liane in Indiana. "Let's do this. I love that slice, slice and more slice is my problem. I've taken lessons and no matter what I do, I can't get rid of the slice off the tee. Please help me." All right, Liane. Very simple. The biggest reason why people slice the ball is the clubface is open. Now, you may take some drills or lessons and you may get some drills that will help you improve the ball from slicing, but if you don't solve the open-face issue, you're never gonna get rid of it. You can work on the path all day long, but unless you solve the face, you can't get rid of it. So, what you're gonna do is, you're gonna get a hanger and when you set up to hit this, we're gonna set up this hanger just like that. So, it's you're grabbing the hanger and the hanger is on the lid side of the grip and my hand is in there; and that hanger is touching the forearm right there. You can see that. Now, when I make my backswing, if I take my wrist and I cup it like this, the hanger is gonna move away from my forearm. When I take my wrist and I bow it like that, you could see I'm creating a flex in that and I can feel the hanger part of the hanger, if that makes any sense, touching my forearm. And as I start to do that, look at the face of the club. Now, when I take this and I move it away, you could see the tail was pointing down. That's an open face and that's gonna slice. No matter what I do with the path, that's gonna slice. When I start to go like this and I get this, this hanger up against my forearm, now look at what the face looks like, and you can see as the face gets more parallel to the forearm or pointing to the sky, now, all of a sudden, I've got the club in a position where it can create a draw or get rid of that slice. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna make that backswing, feel that up against my forearm right there. And again, when you do this drill, what I would tell you is go slowly so you're gonna rehearse this a couple of times. Just like this; I feel that hanger up against there, and I'm just gonna mimic that, and I'm gonna hit my shot. And what you're gonna see is that golf ball is now going down the left-hand side of the fairway, and that has gotten rid of the slice. Okay? So you're one hanger away from getting rid of the slice and you're also one other idea away from getting rid of the slice, and that is watching The Golf Fix, every Monday night 7 PM. I'm Michael Breed, we get rid of slices; we get rid of shanks; we get rid of everything so that you play good golf.
