-Hi, I'm Michael Breed, host of the Golf Fix. Send those e-mails to us, and we'll keep answering them. This one is coming to us from Facebook in Bogota, Colombia, Camilo Sumudio. I desperately need help with my backswing. I am doing a reverse spine and coming over the top but only with the woods and driver. Any drills to cure this? Yeah, absolutely, Camilo. And this is by the way not an uncommon problem. What happens is just that we all get set up, not we all, but those of us that are struggling with this reverse spine angle. What you're doing is you're setting that ball up there, and then you're staying up here and you take the club back, but you're keeping all your weight right here 'cause you don't wanna leave the golf ball. So, what I want you to imagine is this. Imagine that there is a line in the middle of your stance when you get set up. And what I want you to do is I want you to make sure that your shoulders, both left and right shoulders, get on this side or the back side of that line. So when you get set up, I want you to get back here and I want you to make sure that your shoulder-- your shoulders are behind that. So, hey, Jennifer, can you pull up overhead. There you go. Perfect. So what happens is just that when I get set up in the middle of this and I go back, now you could see both of my shoulders are on that side of that stick. What's happening to you is you're going this way and you're hanging right here and now you could see both of them are on the forward side of that, and that's where that reverse spine angle occurs. So what we wanna do is we wanna just do this drill where you got a feel of what that's gonna look like. Just feeling that back there. And after you've done that for a bit, then this is the drill that I like to do the best. What you're gonna do is you're gonna put that just behind the golf ball 'cause we're hitting the driver. If we were hitting, say, a pitching wedge, I might put that line right over the ball, but we're back here like this. So what I want you to do is I want you to get back here, make your backswing, check and see where your shoulders are, are they on that side of the line? Are they on the back side of the line? And then once you get up there, after you've seen where you are, then go ahead and go through that shot. Alright? And just get use to swinging from back there. What you're gonna find is that your launch angle is gonna get a little bit higher, probably get rid of that slice which you're, no doubt, complaining of, and you hit it more solidly in the center of the face. Alright. So, use that little stick there to assist you with getting your weight behind the ball. You get rid of that spine angle. Now, what you can also do is stay right here on GolfChannel.com/TheGolfFix. All the best instruction on all parts of the game, not just what's going on with your reverse spine angle. The other thing that you could do is you can watch me, Michael Breed every Monday night 7 and 10 PM Eastern on The Golf Fix, and it's all about helping you play your best golf.
