- I'm Michael Breed. Host of the Golf Fix. We're taking your email questions, so get them to us. This one is coming to us from Keith Reid on Facebook. -I have a bad lower back and I really struggle with the follow through, on the range, I swing nice and smooth but when I get on the course, it's like I've never played before. -Alright Keith, this is what happens to a lot of people when they get on the golf course, they struggle getting that range swing to the golf course and you can play and that your back is the reason why it's -why you're struggling with that. This is what I would tell you. It's very common for people when they get on the golf course to bend over more. They change their posture. So, when you get out on the practice tee, you're standing up here nice and tall, you got a good spine angle and everything is easy and smooth and you're able to get through. When you get on the golf course, you might just widen your stance a little bit and bend over a little bit more and then all of a sudden, because that lower back, you have no freedom to move through the shot. So, what I would tell you is this. Make sure that you're aware of the distance to the ball and the width of your stance. Take a measurement, I mean literally take a measurement and figure out. Okay with my 6 Iron, I'm you know a foot and a half from the ball and my stance is one grip length from my left foot to my right foot and so what you wanna do is you wanna make sure that your exact with that when you're on the practice tee and then when you get on the golf course, make sure you do the same thing and what will happen is that lower back won't bother you, you won't freeze up, you'll move through the shot smoothly and you'll have that good balance, alright. So, make sure that you're consistent in your set up position on the practice tee with what you're doing on the golf course, alright. The other thing I want you to do is I want you to stay right here on golfchannel.com/thegolffix. We've got all the tips to help with every part of your game. So maybe it's not just the fall swing, maybe you're putting, you wanna stay right here and the other thing you could do. You watch me, Michael Breed every Monday night, 7:00 and 10:00 PM Eastern, its called The Golf Fix and it's about your game.
